Håkan Andersson (motorcyclist)
Håkan Andersson (born June 29, 1945) is a Swedish former professional motocross racer. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1966 to 1979. Andersson won the F.I.M. 250cc Motocross World Championship in 1973. Born in Uddevalla, Sweden, Andersson began racing in the motocross world championships for the Husqvarna factory, finishing second behind Suzuki's Joël Robert in the 1971 250cc motocross world championship. For the 1972 season, Andersson was hired by the Yamaha to help develop their new motorcycle with its innovative rear suspension using a single shock absorber called a monoshock. He again came in second place to Robert. 1973 FIM Motocross World Championship Season
The 1973 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 17th F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary 500cc championship Roger De Coster won his third consecutive 500cc world championship for Suzuki ahead of West German rider, Willy Bauer. The championship wasn't decided until the final race in the Netherlands, when Bauer suffered a mechanical breakdown, losing the championship to De Coster by two points. Kawasaki joined the world championships with Brad Lackey in the 500cc class and Torleif Hansen in the 250cc class. Suzuki's defense of the 500cc world championship was dealt a setback when, the FIM announced a new motorcycle minimum weight limit of 209 pounds just before the start of the season. The 1978 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 22nd F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary Heikki Mikkola successfully defended his 500cc world championship for Yamaha, finishing ahead of Honda's Brad Lackey. Mikkola dominated the season with 14 moto victories in 24 outings. Roger De Coster had a serious accident during pre-season training and ended up having his spleen removed but, recovered to finish the season in third place. The 1977 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 21st F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary Heikki Mikkola rejoined the 500cc class in 1977 after winning the 1976 250cc world championship. Now riding for the Yamaha factory racing team, he continued his old rivalry with Suzuki's Roger De Coster. The 1976 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 20th F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary Suzuki's Roger De Coster claimed his fifth 500cc world championship finishing ahead of his teammate Gerrit Wolsink and Maico's Adolf Weil. Wolsink had seven moto victories against the nine victories by De Coster meaning that the championship wasn't decided until the final race in Luxembourg. Husqvarna's Heikki Mikkola returned to the 250cc class and won a tight points battle to finish the season one point ahead of KTM's Guennady Moisseev. Harry Everts
Harry Everts (born February 1952) is a Belgian former professional motocross racer. He competed in the Motocross World Championships from 1970 to 1982. Everts is notable for being a four-time FIM motocross world champion. In 2013, he was named an FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. Puch () is a manufacturing company located in Graz, Austria. The company was founded in 1899 by the industrialist Johann Puch and produced automobiles, bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles. It was a subsidiary of the large Steyr-Daimler-Puch conglomerate. The 1975 FIM Motocross World Championship was the 19th F.I.M. Motocross Racing World Championship season. Summary In a rematch of the previous season, Suzuki's Roger De Coster and Husqvarna's Heikki Mikkola were once again the two top competitors in the chase for the 500cc motocross world championship. De Coster claimed 12 moto victories to reclaim the title and win his fourth world championship. Arne Kring
Arne Kring (born November 17, 1942) is a Swedish former professional motocross racer. He was a top contender in the F.I.M. 500cc Motocross World Championship from 1963 to 1975. __TOC__ Motocross career Kring was born in the town of Knåda in the province of Hälsingland. Like many Swedes of his time, Kring rode Husqvarna motorcycles. Although he raced motocross professionally, his true profession was as a bicycle shop owner. Ake Jonsson
Ake (or Aké in Spanish orthography) is an archaeological site of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. It's located in the municipality of Tixkokob, in the Mexican state of Yucatán; 40 km (25 mi) east of Mérida, Yucatán. The name ''Ake'' is a toponym that means "place of reeds" in Yucatec Maya. Motocross Des Nations
The Motocross des Nations (in French) is an annual team motocross race, where riders representing their country meet at what is billed as the "Olympics of Motocross". The event has been staged since 1947, where the team of Bill Nicholson, Fred Rist and Bob Ray, representing Great Britain, took home the Chamberlain Trophy for the first time. The event as it stands today is an amalgamation of three separate events, the original Motocross des Nations, raced with 500cc motorcycles, the Trophée des Nations, raced with 250cc motorcycles, and the Coupe des Nations, for 125cc motorcycles. Before 1984, the three events were held in different locations on different weekends, whereafter they were combined into a single event with one rider per class.
