Hultsfred Municipality
Hultsfred Municipality (''Hultsfreds kommun'') is a municipality in Kalmar County, in south-eastern Sweden. The seat is in the town of Hultsfred. The present municipality was created in 1971 through the amalgamation of the market town (''köping'') of Hultsfred (instituted in 1927) with a number of surrounding municipalities. In 1863 there were eight entities in the area. Hultsfred is known as the site of a major rock festival in Sweden, the Hultsfred Festival. History In the age known as the Nordic Bronze Age, the area had some shipping of furs to northern Germany and the Roman army, but not much is known from that time other than the area being inhabited; there has also been older finds from 3000 to 4000 BC. Hultsfred Festival
The Hultsfred Festival ( sv, Hultsfredsfestivalen) was an annual music festival held in Hultsfred, Sweden. It took place at the lake Hulingen during three days in the June or July, from Thursday to Saturday. Since the first festival in 1986, its attendance had increased from 7,500 visitors to approximately 32,000 people in 2005. With its five different stages, the Hultsfred Festival hosted many bands each year (154 in 2007) from all over Scandinavia and the world alike. Due to an increase of ticket pricing and what the public recognized as a poor lineup in 2007, festival attendance had been declining. The festival went bankrupt in 2010 and the whole event was cancelled that year, but it was resurrected already by 2011. Kalmar County
Kalmar County () is a county or '' län'' in southern Sweden. It borders the counties of Kronoberg, Jönköping, Blekinge and Östergötland. To the east in the Baltic Sea is the island Gotland. Ward Hayden and the Outliers, formerly known as Girls, Guns and Glory (GGG), is a band from Boston, Massachusetts. They currently release music independently but formerly had signed with Lonesome Day Records and released albums with Sony RED, MRI and Dry Lightning Records in the US, as well as through Proper in the UK and Rough Trade in Europe.
