Hughenden Stadium
Hughenden is a multi-sports venue in the Hyndland area of Glasgow, Scotland. It has been the home since 1924 of Hillhead Sports Club, a private members' club catering for cricket, rugby union and tennis. Hughenden is best known as a rugby venue and is the home ground of Hillhead Jordanhill RFC. It was also used as the home ground of the professional Glasgow Rugby team from 1996 to 2005 and again from 2006 to 2007. The main rugby ground has a capacity of 6,000. History Hillhead Sports Club was formed in 1902 as a private club for former pupils of Hillhead High School, catering for various sports including football, cricket, hockey and athletics. A rugby team, Hillhead High School Former Pupils RFC (later Hillhead RFC), was formed in 1904. Glasgow Academicals RFC
The Glasgow Academical Football Club is the third oldest rugby football club in Scotland. The club was also a founder member of the Scottish Football Union (the future SRU) in 1873. Cricket Grounds In Scotland
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Scotstoun Stadium
Scotstoun Stadium is an athletics and rugby union stadium in Scotstoun, an area in the West End of Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow Warriors have trained at the facility since 2009 and have played their home games here from the 2012–13 season onwards. It has a capacity of 9,708 for rugby union. Between 2012 and 2015, the Stadium hosted the Scotland Sevens – the Scottish leg of the IRB Sevens World Series, but then the leg was moved to a new host country, France in 2016. Hyndland is a residential area in the West End of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Description Bordering Broomhill, Dowanhill, Kelvinside and Partickhill, it is an upper-middle-class neighbourhood populated mainly by professionals (many employed at the nearby University of Glasgow) and a number of noted authors, poets, actors, comedians and footballers.
