Houli, Taichung
Houli District () is a rural district in northwestern Taichung City, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Houli was organized as a rural township of Taichung County named Neipu Township. On 1 October 1955, Neipu Township was renamed as Houli Township. On 25 December 2010, Taichung County was merged with Taichung City and Houli was upgraded to a district of the city. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipalities of the second level and provincial cities of the third level formerly under its provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. The mountain indigenous district is a local government body with elected district chiefs as well as district council serving four-year terms. Tai'an Railway Station (Taiwan)
Tai'an () is a railway station on the Taiwan Railways Administration Taichung line located in Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. The current elevated station is not the first Tai'an Station nor is located at its original site. Due to the re-routing of the West Coast line, the TRA closed the Tai'an Old Station on the Former Mountain line and keeps it as a tourist and historical facility while transferring the actual transportation service to the new station. Structure Tai'an Station is an elevated train station, and the ticket vending machine is placed on the ground floor, and passengers go upstairs to the fifth floor to take the train. There is an elevator for use by those who are physically disabled. An island platform is located between the tracks at the station. Houli () is a railway station on the Taiwan Railways Administration Taichung line located in Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The train station was opened on 15 May 1905. Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) is a railway operator in Taiwan. It is an agency of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, responsible for managing, maintaining, and running conventional passenger and freight railway services on 1097 km of track in Taiwan. Huang Shu-kuang
Huang Shu-kuang () is a Taiwanese admiral, who served as the Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of China Armed Forces after the decease of General Shen Yi-ming. Military career In the mid-2000s, Huang was the commander of the Republic of China Navy's submarine fleet. He next served as the ROCN's chief of staff. Huang then led the ROCN's Fleet Command. Soon after his appointment as commander of the Republic of China Navy, Huang, defense minister Feng Shih-kuan, and other military officers apologized for the killing of a dog on a military base. Soon after this incident, the Hsiung Feng III missile mishap occurred, followed by another round of apologies, during which he visited the home of Huang Wen-chung, the only victim of the incident, twice, first with Feng, and then with president Tsai Ing-wen. The Taichung World Flora Exposition is an AIPH (category A2, B1)A horticultural exhibition with international participation lasting between 3 and 6 months and at least 25 Hectares in size horticultural exposition held between 3 November 2018 and 24 April 2019 in Houli District, Taiwan. There were 33 participating countries. Theme and locations The festival had three themes and three locations. Lihpao Resort () is a theme park located in Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. It currently has two roller coasters, including Gravity Max, the world's first coaster to feature a true 90-degree drop and the world's first tilt coaster. Besides Gravity Max, Lihpao Land has several themed areas with varied attractions, such as the Mine Express roller coaster, the Hook (a pirate ship ride), and the Wild Flume Adventure, a reversing log flume attraction. Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum
The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum () is a saxophone museum and manufacturing company in Houli District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The museum is named after Chang Lien-cheng, a local resident who made the first saxophone in Taiwan on his own. His effort initiated the development of saxophone industries in Taiwan ever since, which is now one of the largest centers of saxophone production in the world. The Chang Lien-cheng Saxophone Museum was then opened on 27 January 2011 by Chang's grandchildren. Architecture The museum was built as a memorial hall previously dedicated to Chang. It is a two-story building with a concert hall and a tourist-friendly factory that allows visitors to see how the instruments are made.
