Hornindal
Hornindal is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It existed from 1867 until 1965 and then again from 1977 until 2020. It was located in the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Nordfjord. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Grodås. The municipality was located at the eastern end of the lake Hornindalsvatnet, the deepest lake in Northern Europe. The rest of the lake lies inside neighboring Eid, Norway, Eid Municipality. The European route E39 highway runs through Hornindal Municipality as it makes its route along the western coast of Norway. The Kviven Tunnel was completed in 2012 as part of the new E39 route connecting Hornindal to Volda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county to the north. Hornindal Church
Hornindal Church ( no, Hornindal kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the municipality of Volda in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Grodås, at the eastern end of the lake Hornindalsvatnet. It is the church for the Hornindal parish which is part of the Søre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1856 using plans drawn up by the architect Ludolph Rolfsen using plans created by Hans Linstow. The church seats about 400 people. The sculptor Anders Svor is buried in the church cemetery. History The earliest existing historical records of the Hornindal church date back to the year 1330, but the church was not new that year. Hornindalsrokken 2008 August
Hornindalsrokken is a tall mountain in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located on the border of two municipalities: Stranda Municipality and Volda Municipality. The mountain is sometimes also called ''Honndalsrokken'' or sometimes just ''Rokken'' or ''Rokkjen''. The mountain is located about northeast of the village of Grodås and lake Hornindalsvatnet. It is also located about west of the village of Hellesylt in Stranda Municipality. It also lies about southeast of the village of Leira in Volda Municipality. The mountain Kvitegga is to the northeast on the Ørsta/Stranda municipal border. The easiest ways to climb the mountain are from the Sæterdalen valley in Hornindal Municipality or from the Kjellstaddalen valley in Stranda Municipality. Stryn is a municipality in the county of Vestland, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. The administrative center of the municipality is the village of Stryn. Hornindalsvatnet
Hornindalsvatnet is Norway's and Europe's deepest lake, and the world's twelfth deepest lake, officially measured to a depth of . Its surface is above sea level, which means that its bottom is below sea level. The village of Grodås lies at the eastern end of the lake in Volda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county and the village of Mogrenda is located on the western end of the lake in Stad Municipality in Vestland county. Sogn Og Fjordane
Sogn og Fjordane (; English: "Sogn and Fjordane") was, up to 1 January 2020, a county in western Norway, when it was merged to become part of Vestland county.
