Hominy Indians
The Hominy Indians were a professional American football team founded and financed by Otto and Ira Hamilton in Hominy, Oklahoma during the 1920s and 1930s. Native Americans in the United States, Native American players represented twenty-two different tribes. They played regionally and traveled across the country. In 1925, they were named State Champions. On December 26, 1927, the team beat the World Champions New York Giants. Their last season was 1936. A docu-drama titled "Playground of The Native Son" went into production in the winter of 2012 in Oklahoma and was released in 2013. Celia Xavier, owner of Fully Funded Films, was executive producer and co-directed with Michael P Nash. Adam Beach starred in and narrated the film. A subsequent feature film is in pre-production currently based on the Hominy Indians Football team. American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive.
