Hollywood Station (Illinois)
Hollywood is one of three stations on Metra's BNSF Line in Brookfield, Illinois. The station is from Union Station, the east end of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, Hollywood is in zone C. As of 2018, Hollywood is the 181st busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 120 weekday boardings. An unstaffed shelter is on the north side of the three tracks. Hollywood station is the main stop for the Brookfield Zoo. It was originally built in 1893 when Samuel Eberly Gross, a Chicago lawyer, began selling building lots platted from farms and woodlands he had acquired along both sides of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad line. Brookfield (formerly Grossdale) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, located west of downtown Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 19,476. The city is home to the Brookfield Zoo. Geography Brookfield is located at (41.822681, -87.847532). According to the 2010 census, Brookfield has a total area of , of which (or 99.77%) is land and (or 0.23%) is water. Most of Brookfield is flat land with various small hills and rises. Chicago Subdivision
The Chicago Subdivision or Chicago Sub is a railroad line in Illinois that runs about from Chicago to Aurora and hosts Metra's BNSF Railway Line commuter service. It is operated by BNSF Railway as the easternmost part of the railroad's Northern Transcon to Seattle, Washington. This line is known as the Racetrack because it is mostly triple-tracked and supports fairly fast trains. It had been operated by a BNSF ancestor, the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, which introduced high-speed '' Zephyr'' passenger trains in 1934 and ran many of them along this subdivision from Chicago to points west. Pace is the suburban bus and regional paratransit division of the Regional Transportation Authority in the Chicago metropolitan area. It was created in 1983 by the RTA Act, which established the formula that provides funding to the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra, and Pace. The various agencies providing bus service in the Chicago suburbs were merged under the Suburban Bus Division, which rebranded as Pace in 1984. In 2013, Pace had 39.925 million riders. The BNSF Line (also known informally as the "Racetrack") is a Metra commuter rail line operated by the BNSF Railway in Chicago and its western suburbs. In 2010, the BNSF Line continued to have the highest weekday ridership (average 64,600) of the 11 Metra lines. While Metra does not refer to its lines by particular colors, the BNSF line's color on Metra timetables is "Cascade Green," in honor of the Burlington Northern Railroad. Chicago Union Station is an Inter-city rail, intercity and commuter rail terminal station, terminal located in the Near West Side, Chicago, Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. Brookfield Zoo
Brookfield Zoo, also known as the Chicago Zoological Park, is a zoo located in the Chicago suburb of Brookfield, Illinois. It houses around 450 species of animals in an area of . It opened on July 1, 1934, and quickly gained international recognition for using moats and ditches instead of cages to separate animals from visitors and from other animals. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad was a railroad that operated in the Midwestern United States.
