Hillcrest is a suburb in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia. In the , Hillcrest had a population of 5,626 people. Geography Hillcrest lies to the west of Browns Plains. It is bounded by Johnson Road, Mount Lindesay Highway, the interstate railway and Coronation Road to the south. As the name suggests, part of the suburb is on the crest of a hill. The Wineglass Water Tower (named for its shape) on the top of the hill is visible for many kilometres; it is illuminated at night. The water tower holds 1M litres of water and weighs 400 tonnes. History The wineglass water tower was completed in June 1984. Hillcrest was originally part of Browns Plains and was gazetted as a separate place name in June 1987. Hillcrest, also known as Cedar Hall, is a historic two-story house at 706 Beech Street in Cochran, Georgia. Hillcrest is an early-20th century home of Classical Revival architecture. History and preservation Hillcrest was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. It was deemed significant architecturally as a "fine example of a turn-of-the-century Neoclassical style house in Cochran." Neoclassical features include its monumental portico, large rooms, and details in its interior, such as paneled wainscoting, built-ins, and Ionic columns and urns in stairways and room dividers. It was also deemed of local historical importance for its association with two prominent families, those of John Joseph Taylor (1855–1917) and of John Augustus Walker. Hillcrest Heights is a town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 254 at the 2010 census. As of 2018, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 294. It is part of the Lakeland– Winter Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1917, the Lakeside Club was built on the south shore of Crooked Lake.
