High Ground
High ground is an area of elevated terrain, which can be useful in combat. The military importance of the high ground has been recognized for over 2,000 years, citing early examples from China and other early-dynastic cultures who regularly engaged in territorial/power struggles. Later incorporated to be advantageous in architectural designs such as castles and fortresses which included towers and walls designed to provide structural advantages for positions of troops and weaponry which could be thrown or fired from above. "Higher Ground" is a song recorded by Jennifer Rush for her 1989 album, ''Wings of Desire''. It was written by Ken Cummings and Mark Blatt, and produced by Phil Ramone. "Higher Ground" was released as the first single from ''Wings of Desire'' in December 1989. Later, the song was recorded in French by Mario Pelchat and Celine Dion for Pelchat's 1993 album. This version was released as a promotional single in Canada. Jennifer Rush version The song is a panegyric in which Rush praises her partner for loving her and explains that should (s)he ever need assistance, she will be "standing on higher ground" and will look after him. Higher Ground is a 501(c)3 non-profit based in Royal Oak, Michigan providing a support group for people living with HIV/AIDS in Metro Detroit and Southeast Michigan. The organization was founded by 2002 by Rick Henning, who received a " Spirit of Detroit Award" from the Detroit City Council in 2007, in part for his work on Higher Ground. Support activities The organization offers many support services to persons living with HIV-AIDS. Monday night discussion This is the primary function of the organization. It opens with a guided meditation, afterward everyone is encouraged to participate in discussion and to assist each other in the resolution of personal challenges. Topics of discussion often include new diagnosis, status disclosure, friends/family/workplace, doctor relationships, medication choices, dating/relationships, economic/insurance conflicts and long term challenges. ''The Qat Collection'' is the debut studio album by Welsh DJ Sasha. It was released on 23 August 1994 through Deconstruction Records. ''Frequency'' is a music video game developed by Harmonix and published by SCEA. It is the first major release from Harmonix. It was released in November 2001. A sequel, ''Amplitude'', was released in 2003. Gameplay In the game, a player portrays a virtual avatar called a "FreQ", and travels down an octagonal tunnel, with each wall containing a musical track. These tracks contain sequences of notes. As the player hits buttons corresponding to the note placement on the track, the "sonic energy" from within is released and the music plays. If the player plays two measures of the track without any errors, the track is "captured" and the music plays automatically until the next pre-determined section of the song. ''Far from the Sun'' is the sixth studio album by Finnish heavy metal band Amorphis. It was the first album to feature drummer Jan Rechberger since 1994's ''Tales from the Thousand Lakes'', replacing Pekka Kasari who had quit the band to spend more time with his family. It was their last album to feature Pasi Koskinen on vocals. The American release is packaged in a slipcase and features five bonus tracks and a video for "Evil Inside". "Higher Ground" is a funk song written by Stevie Wonder which first appeared on his 1973 album '' Innervisions''. The song reached number 4 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and number 1 on the US Hot R&B Singles chart. Wonder wrote and recorded the song in a three-hour burst of creativity in May 1973. The album version of the song contains an extra verse and runs 30 seconds longer than the single version. The unique wah-wah clavinet sound in the song was achieved with a Mu-Tron III envelope filter pedal.
