High Society (comics)
''High Society'' is the second collected volume, and first volume-length story, of Canadian cartoonist Dave Sim's ''Cerebus'' comic book series. It focuses mainly on politics, including ''Cerebuss campaign for the office of Prime Minister, in the fictional city-state of Iest in Sim's world of Estarcion. It is generally considered the best book for beginning ''Cerebus'' readers to start reading, and has been called "one of the finest storylines of the 1980s". The story was published in individual issues from May 1981 (issue #26) to May 1983 (#50), with the collection published in 1986. The story is considered a turning point in the ''Cerebus'' series, as Sim moved from the " Conan pastiche" of the stories contained in the ''Cerebus'', to making a "piece of political satire," the beginning of Sim moving away from individual issue-focused stories and short, two- or three-issue story arcs, to "longer, far more complex 'novels'" lasting hundreds of pages, that were the focus of the ... Gerhard (comics Artist)
Gerhard is the professional name of a Canadian artist known for the elaborately detailed background illustrations in the comics series ''Cerebus the Aardvark''. Biography Gerhard was born on April 14, 1959, in Edmonton. His association with Dave Sim's ''Cerebus'' began with issue #65 (August 1984), and continued through its conclusion in issue #300, in March, 2004. The series was written by Dave Sim, who also drew the foreground figures, and had worked on the self-published series largely solo for the first 64 issues. Gerhard jokingly described his job saying that he "draws tables and chairs behind an aardvark". He is also fond of photography, later issues of the comic book have covers based on his scenic photos, and sailing. Three years after finishing his work on ''Cerebus'', Gerhard ended his professional and personal relationship with Dave Sim. Moon Knight
Moon Knight is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin, the character first appeared in '' Werewolf by Night'' #32 (August 1975). The son of a rabbi, Marc Spector served as a Force Recon Marine and briefly as a CIA operative before becoming a mercenary alongside his friend Jean-Paul "Frenchie" DuChamp. During a job in Sudan, Spector is appalled when ruthless fellow mercenary Raoul Bushman attacks and kills archeologist Dr. Alraune in front of the man's daughter and colleague, Marlene Alraune. After fighting Bushman and being left for dead, a mortally wounded Spector reaches Alraune's recently unearthed tomb and is placed before a statue of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Leonard Joseph "Chico" Marx (; March 22, 1887 – October 11, 1961) was an American comedian, actor and pianist. Challenge Of The Yukon
''Challenge of the Yukon'' is an American radio adventure series that began on Detroit's WXYZ and is an example of a Northern genre story. The series was first heard on January 3, 1939. The title changed from ''Challenge of the Yukon'' to ''Sergeant Preston of the Yukon'' in September 1950, and that title was retained through the end of the series and into a television adaptation. Background Following the success of ''The Lone Ranger'' and ''The Green Hornet'' on Detroit's WXYZ (now WXYT), the station owner, George W. Trendle, asked for a similar adventure show with a dog as the hero. According to WXYZ staffer Dick Osgood, in his history of the station, Trendle insisted that it not be "a dog like Lassie because... this must be an action story. It had to be a working dog." Deborah Ann Harry (born Angela Trimble; July 1, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter and actress, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Blondie. Wendy Pini ''née'' Fletcher, (born June 4, 1951) and Richard Pini (born July 19, 1950) are the husband-and-wife team responsible for creating the well-known '' Elfquest'' series of comics, graphic novels and prose works. They are also known as WaRP (as in Warp Graphics). Early life Wendy Fletcher was born in San Francisco in 1951, and from an early age demonstrated the talents later to come to fruition as a professional illustrator, and eventually as the creator of ''Elfquest''.
