Herbert Burdenski
Herbert "Budde" Burdenski (19 May 1922 – 15 September 2001), was a German football player and coach. Biography Burdenski began his football career with the Erle 08 in Gelsenkirchen. In 1935 he was discovered playing in the local school championships by Ernst Kuzorra, who signed him to FC Schalke 04. There he became part of the Schalke team, winning the 1940 and 1942 German championship. In 1949 Burdenski was a sports teacher in Bremen, and when the German championship returned he signed to play for Werder Bremen. It was during this time that he scored the only goal in a match against Switzerland in Stuttgart on 22 November 1950, the first international match of the West Germany national football team after the Second World War. Burdenski played five games for the national team during this second phase of his career. Gelsenkirchen
Gelsenkirchen (, , ; wep, Gelsenkiärken) is the 25th most populous city of Germany and the 11th most populous in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia with 262,528 (2016) inhabitants. The German football champions are the annual winners of the highest association football competition in Germany. Otto Rehhagel
Otto Rehhagel (; born 9 August 1938) is a German former football coach and player. Rehhagel is one of only two people who, as player and manager combined, has participated in over 1,000 Bundesliga matches (the other being Jupp Heynckes). In the Bundesliga, he holds the records for the most victories (387), most draws (205), most losses (228), and his teams have scored the most goals (1,473) and conceded more (1,142) than any other. He served as the trainer of Werder Bremen between 1981 and 1995 and won twice the Bundesliga and in 1992 the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup with them. The 1975–76 Bundesliga was the 13th season of the Bundesliga, West Germany's premier football league. It began on 9 August 1975 and ended on 12 June 1976. Borussia Mönchengladbach were the defending champions. Competition modus Every team played two games against each other team, one at home and one away. Teams received two points for a win and one point for a draw. If two or more teams were tied on points, places were determined by goal difference and, if still tied, by goals scored. Dieter Burdenski
Dieter Burdenski (born 26 November 1950) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Early and family life Born in Bremen, Germany, Dieter Burdenski is the father of Fabian Burdenski (1991–) and the son of Herbert Burdenski (1922–2001), who was a German international himself. An outfield player, unlike his son, Herbert Burdenski was capped five times (two goals) by Sepp Herberger, playing just two of these five games after World War II. Converting a penalty in West Germany's first post-war international (against Switzerland on 22 November 1950), Dieter Burdenski's father became the first ever goalscorer for the Federal Republic of Germany. Westfalia Herne
SC Westfalia Herne is a German football club based in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club was founded on 13 June 1904 by the sons of the more well-heeled residents of the city as a rival to the worker-based club SV Sodingen. History After World War I and occupation of the Ruhr by the French in 1923, the club was dissolved, but still carried on unofficially. It was reconstituted in 1925 through fusion with ''Fortuna Herne'' to play as ''Westfalia Fortuna Herne''. The union was good for the club, which advanced to upper league play in 1930, and made it as far as the semi-finals in the national championship the next season.
