Hawaii Route 58
Route 58 is a road that stretches from Route 50 in Lihue to the junction of Wapaa Road with Hawaii 51 near Nawiliwili Harbor on Kauai island. Route description Route 58 begins at an intersection with Route 50 at the Kukui Grove Shopping Center, one of the few major shopping areas on Kauai island. Called Nawiliwili road, it heads southeast and loses the grassy median to become a two lane road. Route 58 comes to an end at Wapaa Road while Route 51 (Rice Street) continues back north from the coast. About halfway down route 58 is the Grove Farm Museum. Lihue or Līhue is an unincorporated community, census-designated place (CDP) and the county seat of Kauai County, Hawaii, United States. Lihue (pronounced ) is the second largest town on the Hawaiian island of Kauai after Kapaa. As of the 2010 census, the CDP had a population of 6,455, up from 5,694 at the 2000 census. Route 50 is a road that stretches from Route 56 at the junction of Rice Street in Lihue to a point approximately 1/5 mile north of the northernmost entrance of the Pacific Missile Range Facility on the western shore of Kauai. It is the longest numbered road on the island of Kauai and is named Kaumualii Highway. Route description Hawaii Route 50 begins in Lihue and heads west. The road passes through the only major shopping center on the island at the intersection with Route 58. From there, the road passes through the countryside and several small communities. Route 51 is a three-mile (5 km) road that stretches from the junction Wapaa Road with Route 58 at the Nawiliwili Harbor in Lihue to Route 56 north of Lihue on The Garden Isle. Grove Farm (Lihue, Hawaii)
Grove Farm is a historic agricultural site on Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands. History German immigrant Hermann A. Widemann (1822–1899) started one of the first sugarcane plantations in Hawaii known as Grove Farm in 1854. During the American Civil War, the demand for Hawaii sugar grew, but Widemann supported the Confederate States. After leasing Grove Farm to its manager George Norton Wilcox (1839–1933) in November 1864, Widemann moved to Honolulu to work in the capital as a supreme court judge. Wilcox would later buy the plantation, and it remained in the family for over 100 years. Wilcox had an irrigation system built to bring water from the wet mountains to the flatter lower elevations where the crops were grown. This idea was later copied by many other planters in the islands. In 1881 Princess Ruth Keelikolani sold some adjoining land, which grew the acreage by about a factor of ten. Niumalu Beach Park
Niumalu Beach Park is a county beach park in the district of Niumalu on the south-east coast of the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands. It is located on Nāwiliwili Bay, about south of Līhue. The Hulēʻia National Wildlife Refuge is adjacent to the west, and Nāwiliwili Beach Park and harbor are adjacent to the east.
