Hato Rey Central
Hato Rey Central is one of the 18 barrios of the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico. With a population density of 16,155.3 per square mile. It has a land area of 1.03 sq mi and a 2010 Census population of 16,640. Hato Rey Central was a barrio of the former municipality of Rio Piedras, before it was merged with San Juan in 1951. It is bounded by Hato Rey Norte to the west, by barrio Universidad to the south, by Oriente to the east, and by Santurce to the north. The Caño Martín Peña separates Hato Rey Central from Santurce. Hato Rey
Hato Rey is a former barrio located in the northwest part of the dissolved municipality of Río Piedras. It now stretches over three barrios, of the municipality of San Juan, Puerto Rico: Urban landscape Its name means "king's cattle farm" ('' hato''). In the 18th century, cattle would roam among the sugar cane fields in the area. Its proximity to residential areas such as San Juan, Río Piedras, Miramar made it a perfect location from where to produce what its residents would eat. Hato Rey Station
Hato Rey station is a rapid transit station in San Juan, Puerto Rico, located in Hato Rey Norte and Milla de Oro financial district. The station was designed by Segundo Cardona FAIA of SCF Architects. It opened on December 17, 2004. The station is located adjacent to the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum (popularly known as the ''Choliseo'') which it serves. Extended operating hours The Hato Rey station is the only station to extend operating hours after nighttime events end at the ''Choliseo'' until all passengers in line have entered the station. Late night-scheduled one-way trains run in both directions of the line only from the Hato Rey station. The Bayamón route train will stop at every station only to drop off passengers, instead of picking up, and will continue the route until it reaches the end of the line.
