Harry Hood (song)
"Harry Hood" is a song that is commonly performed live by the American band Phish, first released on their 1995 live album '' A Live One''. It is one of Phish's most frequently performed songs, featured in 391 live performances since its debut on October 30, 1985. Background "Harry Hood" refers to the Hood Dairy Co., a New England dairy company based in Boston. While the band was living with Brian Long in Burlington, Vermont next to a Hood milk plant, "Harry Hood" was the company mascot of the Hood Milk Co., and this character was featured in a 1970s television commercial in which people opened their refrigerator to find Harry Hood standing inside. The lyric, "Where do you go when the lights go out?" most likely refers to this advertisement, and to the automatic light in a refrigerator. A "Mr. Miner" is also mentioned in the song, a reference to a previous tenant of the house. While living in Mr. Minor's former apartment, calls for Mr. Miner by debt collectors and such would ...

Phish
Phish is an American rock band formed in Burlington, Vermont, in 1983. The band is known for musical improvisation, extended jams, blending of genres, and a dedicated fan base. The band consists of guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman, and keyboardist Page McConnell, all of whom perform vocals, with Anastasio being the lead vocalist. The band was formed by Anastasio, Gordon, Fishman and guitarist Jeff Holdsworth, who were joined by McConnell in 1985. Holdsworth departed the band in 1986, and the lineup has remained stable since. Phish began to perform outside of New England in the late 1980s and experienced a rise in popularity in the mid 1990s. In October 2000, the band began a two-year hiatus that ended in December 2002, but they disbanded again in August 2004. Phish reunited officially in October 2008 for subsequent reunion shows in March 2009 and since then have resumed performing regularly. All four members pursued solo careers or perf ...

Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Since the mid-1950s, the bass guitar has largely replaced the double bass in popular music. The four-string bass is usually tuned the same as the double bass, which corresponds to pitches one octave lower than the four lowest-pitched strings of a guitar (typically E, A, D, and G). It is played primarily with the fingers or thumb, or with a pick. To be heard at normal performance volumes, electric basses require external amplification. Terminology According to the ''New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians'', an "Electric bass guitar sa Guitar, usually with four heavy strings tuned E1'–A1'–D2–G2." It also defines ''bass'' as "Bass (iv). A contraction of Double ba ...

Ventura (Phish Album)
''Ventura'' is a live album by the rock band Phish. It contains two complete concerts on six CDs. It was recorded on July 30, 1997, and July 20, 1998, at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California. Packaged as a box set, it was released by JEMP Records on June 18, 2013. Critical reception On Allmusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine said, ". . . both oncertsarrived during the two-year gap separating 1996's ''Billy Breathes'' and 1998's ''The Story of the Ghost'' — two years where the band's popularity was on the rise and it certainly seemed like a crossover was perhaps within their sites ic That crossover never happened and these two shows indicate the band never seriously thought about moving into the mainstream, preferring to ride a sweet, hazy, sun-soaked vibe that fits Southern California in the late summer. A few covers surface . . . and soundcheck jams round out the third disc of each show, but the appeal of ''Ventura'' is, as always, how Phish tackle their core ...

Colorado '88
''Colorado '88'' is a 3- CD live album from the rock band Phish, recorded over several nights in summer 1988. Despite having only traveled outside Vermont occasionally, in the New England college and club circuit, Phish embarked on a tour in the west. The band played seven shows in ten days to tiny crowds in small bars and restaurants in the ski towns of Telluride and Aspen. ''Colorado '88'' collects, in chronological order, the best of those shows, providing a vivid glimpse into the days before the three and four-night stands at amphitheaters and arenas that would distinguish Phish in the years to come. Mastered from the original analog cassette tapes, ''Colorado '88'' contains recordings of songs that had not previously been widely traded or heard with such clarity. Several of the tracks in the collection had never before appeared on an official Phish release. In 2018, new tapes of these shows were found, all of which were in full. History When Phish arrived in Colorado, they ...

Live Phish Volume 17
''Live Phish Vol. 17'' was recorded live at Portland Meadows in Portland, Oregon, on July 15, 1998. It was the first of a series of four concerts picked by Mike Gordon to release. Except for Live Phish Volume 20, the releases include his journal entries about the shows in the booklet. This was the first concert on the band's US leg of their 1998 summer tour. Live Phish Volume 9
''Live Phish Vol. 9'' was recorded live at the Townshend Family Park in Townshend, Vermont on August 26, 1989. When the band begin choosing concerts for the Live Phish Series, guitarist Trey Anastasio required at least one release from the 1980s. This three-set concert, performed late on a summer afternoon in August, seems to be the most fitting representation of 1980s Phish since almost all of the band's concert staples from the era are represented. ''Live Phish Vol. 9'' marked the first time that "Colonel Forbin's Ascent", "Fly Famous Mockingbird", "McGrupp and the Watchful Hosemasters" (as filler), and "The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday" had appeared on a commercially available Phish release. This 1989 show saw Phish enmeshed in a progressive rock phase, as many multi-part epics and large scale compositions are littered throughout, beginning with the show-opening "Fluffhead" suite. At the end of the second set, Anastasio announces that the band is going to "let the sun go d ...

Live Phish Volume 2
''Live Phish Vol. 2'' was recorded live on July 16, 1994 and was released on September 18, 2001 as part of the Live Phish Series. The show was performed on the side of a ski slope at the Sugarbush Resort in the town of North Fayston, located in Phish's home state of Vermont. It was the final concert of the band's highly successful 1994 summer tour. Earlier in the year, the band had released its highest selling album to date ('' Hoist'') and the size of the Phish audience had expanded greatly by the summer. The Sugarbush concert, which included overnight camping on the ski slope under the stars, was slated as the grand finale of the tour. The concert's setlist included the standard high-energy favorites from 1994 plus a few surprises, including a rare performance of Mike Gordon's "N02", which appears on the band's 1986 self-titled debut album known as ''The White Tape'' (the band would not perform the song for another five years). During "Catapult" there is banter between Trey A ...
