Harakat-i Islami
Islamic Movement of Afghanistan ( fa, حرکت اسلامی افغانستان, ''Harakat-e Islami-yi Afghanistan'') is a political party and former faction of the Afghan Northern Alliance (United Front) in Afghanistan. The movement is registered as a political party with the Ministry of Justice. From its foundation to 2005, the movement was led by Asif Mohseni. The movement emerged in 1978. Initially the movement was inspired by the Islamic revolutionary ideas of Ali Shari'ati, but over time this influence waned. During the 1980s, the movement was part of the 'Tehran Eight', an alliance of Shia mujahedin factions supported by Iran that fought against the PDPA government and Soviet troops. The movement joined the Hezb-e Wahdat, which was intended as a united Shia political front, but soon bolted out of it. During the Taliban years, it joined the ' Northern Alliance'. Muhammad Ali Jawid
Sayed Mohammad Ali Jawid ( prs, سید محمدعلی جاوید; born c.1951) is a politician and the leader of Islamic Movement of Afghanistan. He was born in Polebaraq, Balkh province, in the Islamic calendar year 1330 (1951–1952 AD) in a poor and religious family. He completed his preliminary education in Afghanistan and moved to Najaf, Iraq for higher education, where he completed his Ph.D. in religious studies. He speaks Persian and Arabic fluently. During the communist regime, he founded the Islamic Movement of Afghanistan under the leadership of Sheikh Muhammad Asif Muhsini. During the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, he was engaged in Jihad against the foreign powers. National Understanding Front of Afghanistan (''Jabha-ye Tafahom-e Melli-ye Afghanistan'') was an alliance of opposition parties in Afghanistan. Hamid Karzai
Hamid Karzai (; Pashto/ fa, حامد کرزی, , ; born 24 December 1957) is an Afghan statesman who served as the fourth president of Afghanistan from July 2002 to September 2014, including as the first elected president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan from December 2004 to September 2014. Sayed Hussein Anwari ( prs, سید حسین انوری) (1956 – 5 July 2016) was a politician in Afghanistan. He was a Shia and came from Mohammed Asef Mohseni's Harakat-e Islami (Islamic Movement party). Early life Anwari, an ethnic Hazara of the Sayyed branch, was born in Shekh Ali District of Parwan Province and was educated as a teacher in Kabul. Career He was Minister of Social Affairs and Labor from 1992 to 1995. He fought with the Northern Alliance from 1995 to 2001 against the Taliban and became chief military commander of Harrakat-e-Islami in Afghanistan during that time. The Northern Alliance, officially known as the United Islamic National Front for the Salvation of Afghanistan ( prs, جبهه متحد اسلامی ملی برای نجات افغانستان ''Jabha-yi Muttahid-i Islāmi-yi Millī barāyi Nijāt-i Afghānistān''), was a military alliance of groups that operated between late 1996 to 2001 after the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) took over Kabul.
