Hans Krüger (politician)
Hans Krüger (6 July 1902 – 3 November 1971) was a former member of the NSDAP party and other Nazi organizations who served as an ''SS'' judge in occupied Poland during the Second World War. After the war he became Germany, West German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (Germany), Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He served as Federal Ministry for Displaced Persons, Refugees and War Victims, Federal Minister for Displaced Persons, Refugees and War Victims of the West Germany, Federal Republic of Germany from 17 October 1963 to 7 February 1964, in the First Cabinet of Chancellor Ludwig Erhard, as President of the Federation of Expellees from 1959 to 1964, and as a Member of Parliament from 1957 to 1965. He stepped down from cabinet amid controversy about his war-time background. Life Krüger was born in Neustettin (Szczecinek) in the Province of Pomerania (1815–1945), Province of Pomerania. The Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons, Refugees and War Victims (german: Bundesministerium für Vertriebene, Flüchtlinge und Kriegsgeschädigte; BMVt) was part of the West Germany, West German federal government from 1949 till 1969. Before the formation of the ''Federal Republic of Germany'' on the territory of the three western (American, British and French) Allied-occupied Germany, allied zones, the individual States of Germany, state governments were in charge of the care for displaced persons. Initially the Office for Displaced Persons (german: Amt für Heimatvertriebene) was formed for the social policy task of coordinating the integration of displaced persons and refugees, caring for war victims and providing compensation and initial aid. When the new ministry was formed in September 1949 after the West German federal election, 1949, parliamentary elections, it took over this office.
