Hans Bock (chemist)
Hans Bock (5 October 1928 – 21 January 2008) was a German chemist born in Hamburg and died in Königstein im Taunus. Career Hans Bock studied chemistry at the University of Munich, where he received his PhD in 1958 for his work on water-free hydrazine in the group of Egon Wiberg.Obituary (in German language) by H.Nöthbr>/ref> In 1964 he received his post doctoral lecture qualification after work on phosphorus containing diacenes in the same research group. Subsequently, he had a three-year visit in the group of Edgar Heilbronner at ETH Zurich/Switzerland, where he worked on applications of the HMO-model, leading to the textbook: ''The HMO model and its application''. Wolfgang is a German male given name traditionally popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The name is a combination of the Old High German words ''wolf'', meaning "wolf", and ''gang'', meaning "path", "journey", "travel". Besides the regular "wolf", the first element also occurs in Old High German as the combining form "-olf". The earliest reference of the name being used was in the 8th century. Wilhelm Klemm (Chemist)
Wilhelm Karl Klemm (5 January 1896 – 24 October 1985) was an inorganic and physical chemist. Klemm did extensive work on intermetallic compounds, rare earth metals, transition elements and compounds involving oxygen and fluorine. He and Heinrich Bommer were the first to isolate elemental erbium (1934) and ytterbium (1936). Klemm refined Eduard Zintl's ideas about the structure of intermetallic compounds and their connections to develop the Zintl-Klemm concept. Klemm co-authored one of the ten most-cited papers in the history of the journal ''Zeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie''. His textbooks on inorganic chemistry became standard works for chemists. His ''Magnetochemie'' (c1936) is considered foundational to magnetochemistry.
