Hannes Löhr
Johannes Löhr (5 July 1942 – 29 February 2016) was a German international football player and manager. The striker scored 166 top division goals for 1. FC Köln, more than any other Köln player. He made his debut for the team in August 1964. His 27 goals in the 1967–68 season led the league, making him the first Köln player to do so. Löhr won 20 caps for West Germany, scoring five goals. He appeared in all six matches of the DFB team at the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, playing as a left side attacker. It was his header back across the goal in extra-time against England, from a Jürgen Grabowski cross, that enabled Gerd Muller's winner in the 3–2 quarter-final win. After his career as player, he managed 1. FC Köln between 1983 and 1986. In 1986, he began working for the DFB and was coach of the West German team that won Bronze at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He died on 29 February 2016. Honours 1. Eitorf
Eitorf is a municipality in the Rhein-Sieg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the river Sieg, approx. 25 km east of Bonn city. History Early History The area encompassing Eitorf was originally inhabited by the Sicambri, who were ultimately almost completely annihilated by the Romans. The area belonged to the unoccupied german settlement region ''Germania Libera.'' Afterwards, the Ripuarian Franks emerged from the Tenkterer and other Frankish people in the region and would go on to have a lengthy and complex relationship with the Romans – first as their opponents, then their vassals, and finally their heirs in ruling over all of France and Germany. The names of Frankish settlements from the time frequently have an -ingen ending, of which Köttingen is the only remaining local example. Football At The 1988 Summer Olympics
An association football tournament was played as part of the 1988 Summer Olympics. The tournament featured 16 men's national teams from six continental confederations. The teams were drawn into four groups of four with each group playing a round-robin tournament. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams advanced to the knockout stage, beginning with the quarter-finals and culminating with the gold medal match at the Seoul Olympic Stadium on 1 October 1988. Before the final match, the Soviets relocated from the Olympic Village to Soviet steamship stationed nearby. The 1977–78 DFB-Pokal was the 35th season of the annual German football cup competition. It began on 29 July 1977 and ended on 15 April 1978. 128 teams competed in the tournament of seven rounds. In the final FC Köln defeated Fortuna Düsseldorf 2–0, thus defending their title from the last season. Mode The tournament consisted of seven single elimination rounds. In case a game ended with a draw 30 minutes of extra time were played. If the score was still level the game was replayed with 30 minutes of extra time in case of another draw. DFB-Pokal
The DFB-Pokal ( is a German knockout football cup competition held annually by the German Football Association (DFB). Sixty-four teams participate in the competition, including all clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2. Bundesliga. It is considered the second-most important club title in German football after the Bundesliga championship. Taking place from August until May, the winner qualifies for the DFL-Supercup and the UEFA Europa League unless the winner already qualifies for the UEFA Champions League in the Bundesliga. The competition was founded in 1935, then called the '' Tschammer-Pokal''. The first titleholders were 1. FC Nürnberg. In 1937, Schalke 04 were the first team to win the double.
