Hampstead is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Pender County, North Carolina, United States. It is located between Wilmington and Jacksonville on U.S. Route 17 and comprises an area sized just over 20 square miles. Hampstead is part of the Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Hampstead was named after Hampstead, in England. The Belvidere Plantation House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. North Topsail Beach, North Carolina
North Topsail Beach is a town in Onslow County, North Carolina, United States. The 2010 population was 743. It is located on Topsail Island. North Topsail Beach is part of the Jacksonville, North Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In the 1940s Ocean City was the one place in the area where African Americans could vacation or buy property. The idea came from white attorney Edgar L. Yow, who owned land in the area and talked to Black physician Samuel Gray. Wade H. Chestnut, who along with wife Caronell owned the first home there, was a leader in the community's development. Topsail Island
Topsail Island (, TOP-sill) is a 26-mile (41.8 km) long barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, roughly equidistant between the barrier islands of the Crystal Coast and the beaches of the Cape Fear region, lying south of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Camp Lejeune. The northeastern edge of the island is the New River Inlet, and the southwestern edge is New Topsail Inlet. It is separated from the mainland by a series of small sounds and channels that make up a portion of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Topsail High School
Topsail High School is a High School located in the unincorporated town of Hampstead, North Carolina. It is part of Pender County Schools. Its current interim principal is Dr. Larry Obeda. Dr. Obeda succeeds the role of Mr. Christopher Madden. Topsail High School is now a North Carolina School of High Growth. The student population is consistently increasing and currently stands at over 1400. New building A ceremony for the new Topsail High School was held on December 12, 2006 at 2:00 PM and on December 30, 2008 construction was completed on the new school, located within walking distance to the former Topsail High School and Topsail Middle School.
