Hammock (band)
Hammock is an American ambient post-rock duo formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2005 by Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson. Hammock have released 10 albums and five EPs since 2005, mostly on their own label, Hammock Music, which is distributed through Secretly Distribution, and have garnered favorable reviews from critics, including ''Pitchfork'' and AllMusic. History Formation and first releases Hammock was formed in Nashville, Tennessee by Marc Byrd and Andrew Thompson, both former members of the alternative rock band Common Children. After the band split in 2001, the pair continued to write, record, and produce together in their free time. Byrd was a songwriter for EMI Records, a job which he disliked and left him feeling burned out creatively. Steven John Kilbey (born 13 September 1954) is an English-Australian singer-songwriter and bass guitarist for the rock band the Church. He is also a music producer, poet, and painter. As of 2020, Kilbey has released 14 solo albums and has collaborated on recordings with musical artists such as Martin Kennedy, Stephen Cummings and Ricky Maymi as a vocalist, musician, writer and/or producer. "Black Metallic" is the debut single by English alternative rock band Catherine Wheel, released on 11 November 1991 by Fontana Records. Catherine Wheel were an English alternative rock band from Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. The band was active from 1990 to 2000, releasing five full-length albums in their career, embarking on many lengthy tours and experiencing fluctuating levels of commercial success. Initially receiving attention and success after releasing their debut album ''Ferment'' in 1992, the band achieved peak success with the release of " Crank" and their album '' Chrome'' in 1993. Matthew Ryan (born November 7, 1971) is an American musician, singer and songwriter, born in Chester, Pennsylvania and inspired by such artists as U2, The Replacements, and Leonard Cohen.
