Humberwood is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located north-west of the central core in the former suburb of Etobicoke within the larger neighbourhood of Rexdale. Humberwood is named after the Humber River (Ontario), Humber River, which flows along its northern edge. Humberwood is bound to the north by the Humber River western branch from Highway 427 east to Highway 27, Highway 27 south to Rexdale Boulevard, east on Rexdale Boulevard to Islington Avenue, south on Islington to Highway 401, and west along the 401 to Highway 427. It is the southern part of the official City of Toronto "West Humber-Clairville" neighbourhood. Smithfield, Toronto
Smithfield is a neighbourhood and former village in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Some new residents of Toronto and new immigrants to Canada are attracted to this neighbourhood, mainly because there is a large amount of affordable public housing. It is named after the former village of Smithfield located at the intersection of Albion Road and Martin Grove Road. The neighbourhood is located north of the west branch of the Humber River (Ontario), Humber River and west of Kipling Avenue. Smithfield was established as a postal village in 1870 to serve the then-agricultural district. It started becoming urbanized after World War II as part of the development of the Rexdale district. Today, the area is fully urbanized. Originally part of Etobicoke Township, which later became the City of Etobicoke, it has been part of Toronto since 1998. Claireville (sometimes misspelled as Clairville) is a neighbourhood and former hamlet in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the northwest corner of Toronto, in the former city of Etobicoke. History The original hamlet was established in 1850 at the five-point intersection of Albion Road, Indian Line (later incorporated into Highway 50 and Highway 427), and Steeles Avenue. It was built on a land owned by Jean du Petit Pont de la Haye (1799-1872), a French teacher at Upper Canada College. He developed the community on his estate which he named after his daughter Claire Elizabeth (later Berthon b. 1831-d. 1903). A private street was built diagonally across northern Etobicoke as a shortcut to Albion Township through Toronto Gore Township (now part of Caledon and Brampton), with a toll at Claireville. Etobicoke North (federal Electoral District)
Etobicoke North () is a federal electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979. It covers the neighbourhood of Rexdale, in the northern part of the Etobicoke district of Toronto. The riding was created in 1976 from parts of Etobicoke and York West. In the House of Commons, the riding has been represented by Liberal Kirsty Duncan since 2008. Geography The riding consists of the northwestern part of the City of Toronto. Kingsview Village is a neighbourhood in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the north end of the former suburb of Etobicoke, and is bounded on the north by Highway 401, on the east by the Humber River and St. Phillips Road, on the south by Dixon Road. It is relatively close to Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, and TTC bus routes connect it to the rest of the city. The Elms, Toronto
The Elms is a neighbourhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is bordered by the Humber River to the east, Islington Avenue to the west, Thistletown to the north, and Highway 401 to the south. Much of this area was dotted with American Elm trees, the namesake of The Elms golf course, in which its links were still being played as late as 1957 when Rexdale was growing around it.
