Howler was an indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group consisted of Jordan Gatesmith on lead guitar and vocals, Ian Nygaard on guitar, Yayo Trujillo on bass and Hiram Sevilla on drums. Howler received international acclaim, most notably from NME, which named Howler their No. 3 Best New Band of 2011 and included Jordan Gatesmith in their NME's Cool List, 2011 Cool List. The band has also played festivals like SXSW, The Great Escape Festival, The Great Escape, Reading & Leeds and Rock the Garden. The Howler is a family steel roller coaster at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, United States. It was built in 1999 by Zamperla as part of a larger expansion project to build Holidog's FunTown; it opened on May 8, 1999. The Howler is themed after Holiday World's mascot, Holidog, and features a 12-passenger train with the front car resembling the dog's head and the back car resembling the dog's hind feet and tail. The Howler is located within the Fourth of July section of Holiday World in a sub-section known as Holidog's FunTown, which is a children's play area located in the southeasternmost corner of the park. Prior to the addition of Thunderbird in 2015, it was Holiday World's sole steel coaster, as the main roller coasters at the time were all wooden ones. As of 2024, the New York Rangers are the only team without a mascot. Current teams Anaheim Ducks Wild Wing, the mascot of the Anaheim Ducks, descended from the rafters of Anaheim Arena before their very first game on October 8, 1993. Wild Wing was introduced by Iceman, a short-lived speaking mascot that was "pretty much canceled before the end of the opening game". An anthropomorphic duck, Wild Wing has been featured on the Ducks' jerseys. Wild Wing's name was chosen following a fan "Name the Mascot" write-in contest.
