Homescan
National Consumer Panel (NCP) is a service provided by a joint venture between NielsenIQ and Circana (formerly IRI / SymphonyIRI Group) where members in the contiguous United States scan the barcodes on all their purchases with either a mobile app or a special barcode reader and provide additional details about their shopping purchase experience(s). The NCP program was formerly known as the Homescan Consumer Panel before the formation of the joint venture with IRI and the merger of the two companies' existing panels. The store, price, quantity, and special deals have to be entered manually for the scanned products, and the information is transmitted weekly to the company. NielsenIQ
NIQ (also known as NielsenIQ, formerly known as ACNielsen or AC Nielsen) is a global marketing research firm, with worldwide headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The company has approximately 30,000 employees and operates in more than 100 countries. NIQ acquired German market research firm GfK in 2023. Until March 2021, it was a part of Nielsen Holdings. Nielsen Holdings divested its consumer intelligence (by then known as NielsenIQ) business to private equity firm Advent International. The business later rebranded to NIQ. IRI (Information Resources, Inc.) was a data analytics and market research company headquartered in the United States. The company provided clients with consumer, shopper, and retail market intelligence as well as analysis on consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, and healthcare industries. It merged with the NPD Group in 2022 to become Circana.
