Hipping
Hipping is a vineyard of the red slope in the municipality Nierstein in Germany. Located at the Rhenish Hessian Rhineterrace (Rhineland-Palatinate), wines of this vineyard can be marketed as "Großes Gewächs" or "Erste Lage", provided that other quality characteristics are fulfilled. Terrain The Hipping vineyard extends along the Rhine north of Nierstein and south of Nackenheim. It is part of the large vineyard Rehbach of the Rheinhessen wine region and surrounds the exclusive site "Brudersberg" in southern direction and borders in the south on the location "Ölberg". The location is 90–160 m above NN. The slope gradient is up to 70% and the exposure to southeast, the incoming morning sun is particularly beneficial for Riesling. The soil is Rotliegend. Weingut Gunderloch
Weingut Gunderloch is a German wine grower and producer based in Nackenheim in the Rheinhessen wine region. History The Gunderloch estate was created by a banker hailing from Mainz in 1890 during the German Gründerzeit. Carl Gunderloch, originating from Gundersheim, acquired the Dalheimer Hof from the secularised property of the Cistercian abbey of Dalheim near Mainz, as well as some outstanding vineyards like the “Nackenheimer Rothenberg” in the “Roter Hang” (Red slope). Following his capital investment he became a protagonist of a new quality oriented viticulture on the Rhinefront. After his death, his winery was divided between his two daughters. The current owner is Agnes Hasselbach-Usinger, the fifth generation in the winery. Nackenheim is an ''Ortsgemeinde'' – a municipality belonging to a ''Verbandsgemeinde'', a kind of collective municipality – and a winegrowing centre in the Mainz-Bingen district in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Geography Location Nackenheim lies in Rhenish Hesse near Mainz. It belongs to the ''Verbandsgemeinde'' of Bodenheim, whose seat is in the like-named municipality, and is the only ''Ortsgemeinde'' in this ''Verbandsgemeinde'' that lies right on the Rhine. The Rotliegend, Rotliegend Group or Rotliegendes (german: the underlying red) is a lithostratigraphic unit (a sequence of rock strata) of latest Carboniferous to Guadalupian (middle Permian) age that is found in the subsurface of large areas in western and central Europe. The Rotliegend mainly consists of sandstone layers. It is usually covered by the Zechstein and lies on top of regionally different formations of late Carboniferous age. A billhook or bill hook, also called a pruning knife or spar hook, is a versatile cutting tool used widely in agriculture and forestry for cutting woody material such as shrubs, small trees and branches.
