Hieroglyphics (group)
Hieroglyphics, also known as the Hieroglyphics Crew and Hiero, is an American Alternative hip hop, underground hip hop Musical collective, collective based in Oakland, California. The group includes founder Del the Funky Homosapien, fellow rappers Casual (rapper), Casual, Pep Love, and all four members of the group Souls of Mischief—Phesto, , Opio, and Tajai—as well as DJ Toure and producer/manager Domino (producer), Domino. Since their inception, Hieroglyphics have found a following largely through their members, podcasts ("Hierocasts"), and promotion through their website. The collective uses a three-eyed, straight-lipped face logo that figures prominently on their albums, website, stickers, and clothing. ''3rd Eye Vision'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop collective Hieroglyphics. It was released by Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings on March 24, 1998. It peaked at number 26 on the ''Billboard'' Heatseekers Albums chart, as well as number 88 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It has sold more than 100,000 copies. Jim Mahfood
Jim Mahfood (born March 29, 1975), a.k.a. Food One, is an American comic book creator. Apart from his creator-owned comic book series ''Grrl Scouts'' and his comic strip ''Stupid Comics'' (which appears weekly in the ''Phoenix New Times'') he also did work for Marvel Comics on various Spider-Man titles, including '' Ultimate Marvel Team-Up'' and '' Spectacular Spider-Man''. His big break came when Oni Press hired him to illustrate two comic books based on Kevin Smith's movie ''Clerks'' from scripts by Smith, following his work on Marvel Comics ''Generation X Underground Special''. Career At the age of 18 Mahfood attended the Kansas City Art Institute, where he met Mike Huddleston and formed 40 Oz Comics. Underground comix are small press or self-published comic books that are often socially relevant or satirical in nature. He is a member of the East Coast hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan, and is half of the hip hop duo Method Man & Redman. Reginald Noble (born April 17, 1970), better known by his stage name Redman, is an American rapper, DJ, record producer, and actor. ''SF Weekly'' is an online music publication and formerly alternative weekly newspaper founded in the 1970s in San Francisco, California. It was distributed every Thursday, and was published by the San Francisco Print Media Company. The paper has won national journalism awards, and sponsored the SF Weekly Music Awards. Mayan Numeral
The Mayan numeral system was the system to represent numbers and calendar dates in the Maya civilization. It was a vigesimal (base-20) positional numeral system. The numerals are made up of three symbols: zero (a shell), one (a dot) and five (a bar). For example, thirteen is written as three dots in a horizontal row above two horizontal bars; sometimes it is also written as three vertical dots to the left of two vertical bars. With these three symbols, each of the twenty vigesimal digits could be written. Numbers after 19 were written vertically in powers of twenty. The Mayan used powers of twenty, just as the Hindu–Arabic numeral system uses powers of ten. For example, thirty-three would be written as one dot, above three dots atop two bars.
