Hermann Viets
Hermann Viets (28 January 1943 – 1 October 2017) was a German-born American astronautics engineer and president of Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). He was MSOE's fourth president, assuming the position in 1991. Early life Viets was born in Quedlinburg, Germany on 28 January 1943. He earned all three of his degrees from New York University's Polytechnic Institute: a B.S. in aerospace engineering in 1965, an M.S. in astronautics in 1966, and a doctorate in astronautics in 1970. Career Viets held seven US patents. He was Professor of Engineering at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Robert R
Robert Lee Rayford (February 3, 1953 – May 15, 1969), sometimes identified as Robert R. due to his age, was an American teenager from Missouri who has been suggested to represent the earliest confirmed case of HIV/AIDS in North America. This is based on evidence published in 1988 in which the authors claimed that medical evidence indicated that he was "infected with a virus closely related or identical to human immunodeficiency virus type 1." Rayford died of pneumonia, but his other symptoms baffled the doctors who treated him. A study published in 1988 reported the detection of antibodies against HIV. Results of testing for HIV genetic material were reported at a scientific conference in Australia in 1999. However, the data has never been published in a peer-reviewed medical or scientific journal. MSOE
The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is a private university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. Founded in 1903, the university has a primary focus on undergraduate engineering education with additional programs in business, mathematics, and nursing. Its campus is in the List of neighborhoods of Milwaukee, East Town neighborhood of downtown Milwaukee. In the fall of 2022, it enrolled 2,575 undergraduate and 154 graduate students.
