Henry Pottier
Henry Eugène Pottier (21 February 1912 – 7 September 2000), often erroneously written as Henri Pottier, was a French architect. A disciple of Victor Laloux, he won a Prix de Rome in 1944. As it was customary to fill the influential position of Architecte en chef des bâtiments civils et palais nationaux () from among recipients of the award, Pottier ascended to the function in 1968. He is perhaps best known to the general public as the chief architect of the Front de Seine, a major 1970s redevelopment in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, and several entertainment facilities in the Principality of Monaco, for whose government he was a consulting architect. He designed many public buildings, first in his native Eure, then in the Paris region during the 1960s and 1970s. Vernon, Eure
Vernon (; ) is a commune in the French department of Eure, administrative region of Normandy, northern France. It lies on the banks of the river Seine, about midway between Paris and Rouen. Vernon–Giverny station has rail connections to Rouen and Paris. The town is known for its production of engines by the SNECMA group. Georges Jean Raymond Pompidou ( ; ; 5 July 19112 April 1974) was a French politician who served as President of France from 1969 until his death in 1974. He previously served as Prime Minister of France under President Charles de Gaulle from 1962 to 1968, a longevity record under the French Fifth Republic, Fifth Republic. In the context of the strong growth of the last years of the ''Trente Glorieuses'', Pompidou continued De Gaulle's policy of modernisation, which was symbolised by the presidential use of the Concorde, the creation of large industrial groups and the launch of the TGV, high-speed train project (TGV). The government invested heavily in the automobile, agribusiness, steel, telecommunications, Force de dissuasion, nuclear and aerospace sectors and also created the minimum wage (SMIC) and the Ministry of the Environment.
