Henk Van Os
Hendrik Willem van Os (28 February 1938 – 14 June 2025) was a Dutch art historian. He served as professor of Art and Cultural History, director of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and presenter of television programs on art. Biography Henk van Os studied art history at the University of Groningen, where his father, Frederik van Os, served as rector magnificus during two terms. He also spent time studying in Rome. In 1969, he earned his doctorate in Groningen and became professor of Art and Cultural History there in 1974. Between 1984 and 1989, he was also dean of the Faculty of Arts. From 1989 to 1996, he served as director of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, after which he became university professor of Art and Society at the University of Amsterdam. H.W.A. (Henk) Blezer (born July 14, 1961 in Schaesberg) is a Dutch Tibetologist, Indologist, and scholar of Buddhist studies. Study After initial studies in Biology and Biochemistry, and also in Theology, from 1987, Blezer studied Indology at Leiden University. In 1992, he completed his 'Doctoraal' (B.A. + M.A.) in Buddhist, Tibetan, and Vedic Studies (''cum laude''). From 1993, he did Ph.D. research at the Center for Non-Western Studies (CNWS, later: Research School for Asian, African, and Amerindian Studies). He defended his Ph.D. thesis on April 16, 1997. His dissertation is on post-mortem visions of peaceful and wrathful deities, discussed according to esoteric traditions attributed the 14th century visionary saint Karma Lingpa. Henk Visser (pediatrician)
Hendrik Klaas Aldert "Henk" Visser (19 June 1930 – 25 March 2023) was a Dutch pediatrician. He was professor of pediatrics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Erasmus MC between 1967 and 1995. Life and career Visser was born on 19 June 1930 in Dokkum. He studied medicine at the University of Groningen between 1948 and 1955. He specialized in pediatrics under professor J.H.P. Jonxis. Visser obtained his PhD in 1958. From 1960 to 1961 he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the Boston Children's Hospital. Visser became professor of pediatrics at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Erasmus MC in 1967. He was head of the department of pediatrics of the Erasmus MC and the between 1967 and 1995. Henk Jaap Beentje (born 1951, Bakkum) is a Dutch botanist. In 1978 he obtained a masters in biology at the University of Amsterdam. He obtained his PhD at the Wageningen Agricultural University on the thesis ''A monograph on Strophanthus DC. (Apocynaceae)'', prepared under the direction of Hendrik de Wit and A.J.M. Leeuwenberg, in 1982. Since 1975, Beentje has been active in Africa. Between 1984 and 1989, he was a research fellow at the East African Herbarium, a herbarium that is part of the National Museums of Kenya in Kenya. Since 1995, Beentje has been a researcher at the herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Henk Bodewitz
Hendrik Wilhelm "Henk" Bodewitz (13 October 1939 – 18 August 2022) was a Dutch Indologist. He was a professor at the Universities of Utrecht and later Leiden between 1976 and 2002. Career Between 1952 and 1958 he attended the gymnasium in Coevorden. He obtained a degree in classical languages at Utrecht University in 1963 and subsequently a further degree in Indo-Iranian studies in 1966. Bodewitz started working at Utrecht University as an assistant professor of Sanskrit in 1966. He did so for two years and then became an associate professor at Leiden University, which he remained until 1976. In 1973 Bodewitz earned his PhD under Jan Gonda at Utrecht University. In 1976 he was appointed as full professor of Sanskrit and Indo-European linguistics and he succeeded Gonda in that position.
