Hasmonean Brigade
The Hasmonean Brigade (Hebrew: חטיבת החשמונאים) is an infantry unit in the Israel Defense Forces under the Education and Training Command. The brigade was founded to accommodate Haredi soldiers, who were previously exempt from conscription in Israel. The brigade is currently being arranged and commanded by Colonel Avinoam Emunah and will potentially have up to 4,000 soldiers. The Israeli Ministry of Defense says the unit is intended for single or married soldiers who wish to maintain their Haredi lifestyle and combine their religious studies with military service. Enlistees will undergo 8 months of training to join the brigade, which includes rifleman, stealth, open terrain warfare, and night operations training. They are also required to sign a document stating that they will follow a halakhic lifestyle, which includes maintaining a beard and peyos, refraining from foul language, and dressing in accordance with Jewish law. Payot
Sidelocks in English, or ''pe'ot'' in Hebrew, English language, anglicized as payot (, "corners") or payes (), is the Hebrew term for sidelocks or sideburns. Payot are worn by some men and boys in the Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox Jewish community based on an interpretation of the Tanakh's injunction against shaving the "sides" of one's head. Hardal (also spelled Chardal; , acronym for , , plural ) usually refers to the portion of the Religious Zionist Jewish community in Israel which inclines significantly toward Haredi ideology (in terms of outlook on the secular world, or in their stringent '' khumra'' approach to ''Halakha''). Since the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948, fixed-term military service has been compulsory in Israel. The draft laws of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) only apply to Jews (males and females), Druze (males only), and Circassians (males only). Because the Druze and Circassian communities are less populous, their women are exempted from mandatory military service altogether. Women from the Jewish community are not exempted, but serve for slightly shorter terms than their male counterparts. Shlav Bet
Shlav Bet (Hebrew language, Hebrew: שלב ב, English language, English: Phase B) is an Israel Defense Forces recruitment track intended for Haredi Judaism, Haredim over the age of 26 seeking to complete military service. The program is managed by the IDF's Haredi Military Administration. Training Recruits undergo 2–3 weeks of Military recruit training, basic training and then are integrated into various Reserve duty (Israel), reserve units across Israel. Netzah Yehuda Battalion
The 97th Netzah Yehuda Battalion (, ), previously known as Nahal Haredi () is a battalion in the Kfir Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces. The purpose of the unit is to allow Haredi Jewish men to serve as combat soldiers in the Israeli military by creating an atmosphere conducive to their religious convictions in the strict observance of ''Halakha''.
