Harry L. Hayman
Harry Lewis Hayman, (1850-1927)Background notes on The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists September 2011', Roll of Distinguished Philatelists Trust, London, 2011Archived here./ref> was a British philatelist who signed the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1921. Hayman was a specialist in Aerophilately, for which he won a medal at the 1923 London International Stamp Exhibition. He also collected to medal level Belgian Congo, China, Hungary, Liberia, Mauritius, and Spain. His general collection was sold for £4000 in 1898. Hayman was the joint founder of Aero Philatelic Society and President of the Hertfordshire Philatelic Society. Philatelist
Philately (; ) is the study of postage stamps and postal history. It also refers to the collection and appreciation of stamps and other philatelic products. Philately involves more than just stamp collecting or the study of postage; it is possible to be a philatelist without owning any stamps. For instance, the stamps being studied may be very rare or reside only in museums. Etymology The word "philately" is the English transliteration of the French "", coined by Georges Herpin in 1864. Herpin stated that stamps had been collected and studied for the previous six or seven years and a better name was required for the new hobby than ''timbromanie'' (roughly "stamp quest"), which was disliked.Williams, L.N. & M. Roll Of Distinguished Philatelists
The Roll of Distinguished Philatelists (RDP) is a philatelic award of international scale, created by the Philatelic Congress of Great Britain in 1921. The Roll consists of five pieces of parchment to which the signatories add their names. Selection of the signatories Those who have assisted the development of philately through their research, expertise or giving their time can be candidates to sign the Roll if they are sponsored by one of the existing signatories. Aerophilately is the branch of philately that specializes in the study of airmail. Philatelists have observed the development of mail transport by air from its beginning, and all aspects of airmail service have been extensively studied and documented by specialists. London International Stamp Exhibition (1923)
The London International Stamp Exhibition was held from 14-26 May 1923 in the Royal Horticultural Hall, London. It was organised by the Junior Philatelic Society (now the National Philatelic Society). One of the key exhibits was the collection of Victoria Half-lengths formed by Charles Lathrop Pack along with his Diligencias. The Order of the Crown (french: Ordre de la Couronne, nl, Kroonorde) is a national order of the Kingdom of Belgium. The Order is one of Belgium's highest honors.
