Harlequin Amateurs
Harlequin Amateurs Rugby Football Club are a Hampton Wick-based English rugby union club who play their rugby in the RFU league system, currently in Counties 4 Surrey. They train and play in Bushy Park. The club formed as a result of 2007 merger between the historic Lockside RFC, formerly Lensbury RFC and Harlequin Amateurs, a modern non-professional version of their namesake. The club runs two Senior men's teams, a Vet's team and a mini and youth programme from Under 5s to Under 14s. In 2016/17, the club expanded to include a girl's youth team and in 2021/22 Harlequins Women 3XV joined the women's and girls set up to form an amateur pathway from Under 13s to a Senior Women's team. Harlequin Amateurs FC Logo
Harlequin (, , ; , ) is the best-known of the comic servant characters (Zanni) from the Italian commedia dell'arte, associated with the city of Bergamo. The role is traditionally believed to have been introduced by the Italian actor-manager Zan Ganassa in the late 16th century, was definitively popularized by the Italian actor Tristano Martinelli in Paris in 1584–1585, and became a stock character after Martinelli's death in 1630. The Harlequin is characterised by his checkered costume. Middlesex Rugby is the governing body for rugby union in the former county of Middlesex, England. Middlesex is a historic county of England that covered areas that are now part of London, Surrey and Hertfordshire. The historic county is still in use when referring to sport. Bob Hiller
Robert Hiller (born 14 October 1942) is a former England national rugby union team, England international rugby union player. Hiller was England's first choice Fullback (rugby union), fullback between 1968 and 1972. He made his England debut against Wales national rugby union team, Wales at Twickenham Stadium, Twickenham on 20 January 1968 and won the last of his 19 caps against Ireland national rugby union team, Ireland at Twickenham on 12 February 1972. He captained England in seven internationals and scored 138 points, an England record at the time of his retirement which has subsequently been beaten. Counties 4 Surrey
Counties 4 Surrey is a rugby union competition covering the English county of Surrey and parts of south-west London. It sits at the 10th tier of the English rugby union system. The teams play home and away matches from September through to April. Promoted teams move up to Surrey 3 and relegated teams move down to Counties 5 Surrey. At the end of the 1999–2000 season, Surrey 4 was cancelled with teams automatically going up to Surrey 3 or dropping out of the league. After a hiatus of four seasons the division was reinstated. Each year some of the clubs in this division also take part in the RFU Junior Vase – a level 9–11 national competition. Hampton Wick
Hampton Wick is a Thamesside area of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, England, contiguous with Teddington, Kingston upon Thames and Bushy Park. Market gardening continued until well into the twentieth century. With its road and rail connections to London along the M4 corridor, it is within the London commuter belt. Bushy Park
Bushy Park in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is the second largest of London's Royal Parks, at in area, after Richmond Park. The park, most of which is open to the public, is immediately north of Hampton Court Palace and Hampton Court Park and is a few minutes' walk from the west side of Kingston Bridge. The Lensbury is a conference centre, hotel, and leisure facility located on the banks of the Thames in Teddington, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. Counties 3 Herts/Middlesex (formerly Herts/Middlesex 1) is a tier 9 English Rugby Union league. It is organised by the London and South East Division Rugby Football Union for clubs in Hertfordshire and parts of north-west London that traditionally was encompassed by the historic county of Middlesex. Promotion is to Counties 2 Herts/Middlesex relegation is to the Middlesex RFU merit leagues. Historically the league was a level 8 league but following the RFU's Adult Competition Review, from season 2022-23 it became a level 9 competition and adopted its current name Counties 3 Herts/Middlesex.
