Handsworth F.C. was an English football club based in Handsworth, Sheffield, South Yorkshire. They last played in the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League, before merging with Parramore Sports F.C. in 2014 to form Handsworth Parramore F.C. History The club was established in 2003, entering the Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior League. In 2004–05 they finished third in Division Two, and were promoted to Division One. In 2007–08 they won Division One, and were promoted to the Premier Division. In 2009–10 they finished third in the Premier Division, and were promoted to Division One of the Northern Counties East Football League, winning the league in the 2011–12 season. However, Handworth were not able to be promoted to the Premier Division due to ground grading issues and instead had to move back down to the County Senior League. The Sheffield & Hallamshire County Senior Football League is an English football league that was founded in 1983 by the merger of the former Sheffield Association League and Hatchard League. The league has three divisions – the Premier Division (which stands at level 11 of the English football league system), Division One and Division Two. The English football league system, also known as the football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for men's association football clubs in England, with five teams from Wales, one from Guernsey, one from Jersey and one from the Isle of Man also competing. Sheffield has a long history of involvement in sport. Although cricket was the first organised sport, it has gradually been supplanted by football. The Northern Counties East Football League is a semi-professional English football league. It has two divisions – Premier Division and Division One – which stand at the ninth and tenth levels of the football pyramid respectively. History The league was formed in 1982 following the merger of the Yorkshire League and Midland League. For its inaugural season, the league consisted of five divisions.
