Alexander Halprin (21 March 1868, in Saint Petersburg – 20 May 1921, in Vienna) was a Russian–Austrian chess master. He took 6th at Vienna 1895/96 (Carl Schlechter and Max Weiss won), lost a match to Kalikst Morawski (+7 –2 =1) at Vienna 1896, tied for 3rd–4th at Vienna 1897/98 (Georg Marco won), took 16th at Vienna 1898 (Siegbert Tarrasch and Harry Pillsbury won), Halprin, Marco, and Hugo Fähndrich were the editors of ''Wiener Schachzeitung'' which published supplements containing tourney games and notes throughout the whole contest. Anna Halprin
Anna Halprin (born Hannah Dorothy Schuman; July 13, 1920 – May 24, 2021) was an American choreographer and dancer. She helped redefine dance in postwar America and pioneer the experimental art form known as postmodern dance and referred to herself as a breaker of the rules of modern dance. In the 1950s, she established the San Francisco Dancers' Workshop to give artists like her a place to practice their art. Exploring the capabilities of her own body, she created a systematic way of moving using kinesthetic awareness. With her husband, landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, she developed the RSVP cycles, a creative methodology that includes the idea of scores and can be applied broadly across all disciplines. Daria Halprin (born December 30, 1948) is an American somatic-expressive arts therapist, author, teacher dancer, and former actress known primarily for her performances in three films of the late 1960s and early 1970s and as founding director of Tamalpa Institute. Early life Daria Halprin was born in a Jewish family and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, the daughter of San Francisco-based landscape architect Lawrence Halprin and choreographer Anna Halprin (née Schuman), who, in the 1950s, was one of the Western pioneers of using dance as a healing art. Lawrence Halprin (July 1, 1916 – October 25, 2009) was an American landscape architect, designer and teacher. Beginning his career in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, in 1949, Halprin often collaborated with a local circle of modernist architects on relatively modest projects. These figures included William Wurster, Joseph Esherick, Vernon DeMars, Mario J. Ciampi, and others associated with UC Berkeley. Gradually accumulating a regional reputation in the northwest, Halprin first came to national attention with his work at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, the Ghirardelli Square adaptive-reuse project in San Francisco, and the landmark pedestrian street / transit mall Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis. Randy Halprin
The Texas 7 were a group of prisoners who escaped from the John B. Connally Unit near Kenedy, Texas, on December 13, 2000. Six of the seven were apprehended over a month later, between January 21–23, 2001, as a direct result of the television show ''America's Most Wanted''. The seventh committed suicide before he could be arrested. The six surviving members were all convicted and Capital punishment in Texas, sentenced to death for the murder of Irving, Texas police officer Aubrey Wright Hawkins, who was shot and killed when responding to a robbery perpetrated by the Texas Seven. Robert David Halprin (born January 13, 1958) is an American record producer, executive producer and an independent record label owner. Halprin launched VRP Music, an independent record company, in 2000. Early life Halprin was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Raymond Halprin, a department store manager, and Dorothy Halprin (nee Weiser), a homemaker. Halprin was a child actor and singer from the age of six, co-starring in a variety of performances both off-Broadway and in summer stock theater. Halprin is " autodidactic", with a verifiable IQ in the "145 range", as tested on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), despite having only finished the eighth grade. Rose Luria Halprin (1896–1978) was an American Zionist leader and National President of the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America. In addition to her two terms as Hadassah president, she also served on the Zionist General Council, American Zionist Emergency Council, American Jewish Conference, and the Jewish Agency for Palestine. As part of the American section for the Jewish Agency, she was involved in discussions that led to the establishment of the State of Israel. The Halprin Open Space Sequence is a series of urban open spaces and pedestrian zones between Southwest Lincoln Street and Clay Street, in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States.
