In Islam, a Hafiz (; , pl. ''ḥuffāẓ'' , f. ''ḥāfiẓa'' ) is a person who has memorized the Quran. Hafiza is the female equivalent. A hafiz is highly respected by the community. A hafiz or hafiza are given titles such as "Hafiz Sahb" (Sir Hafiz), "Ustadh" (أُسْتَاذ) (Teacher), and occasionally Sheikh (شَيْخ). The Tomb of Hafez (), commonly known as Hāfezieh (), are two memorial structures erected in the northern edge of Shiraz, Iran, in memory of the celebrated Persian people, Persian poet Hafez. The open pavilion structures are situated in the Musalla Gardens on the north bank of a seasonal river and house the marble tomb of Hafez. The present buildings, built in 1935 and designed by the French architect and archaeologist André Godard, are at the site of previous structures, the best-known of which was built in 1773. Jón Leifs (born Jón Þorleifsson on 1 May 1899 – 30 July 1968) was an Icelandic composer, pianist, and conductor. Life Jón Leifs was born ''Jón Þorleifsson,'' at the farm Sólheimar, then in the Húnavatnssýsla, northwestern Iceland. He left for Germany in 1916 to study at the Leipzig Conservatory. He graduated in 1921 having studied piano with Robert Teichmüller, but decided not to embark on a career as a pianist, devoting his time instead to conducting and composing. During this period he also encountered the legendary pianist-composer Ferruccio Busoni, who urged him to "follow his own path in composition". Hafiz (horse)
Hafiz (1952 – 1971) was a French Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. In a racing career which lasted from 1954 until 1956 he ran at least thirteen times and won six races. As a three-year-old in 1955 he won the Prix de Guiche and the Prix Greffulhe in France before winning the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and Champion Stakes in Britain. He was disappointing for most of the following season but produced what was arguably his best performance when finishing second under top weight in the Cambridgeshire Handicap. He made no impact at stud. When racing in Britain and later while standing as a stallion in the United States, the horse was known as Hafiz II. Hafiz Abdelrahman Mukhtar (; died 21 July 2023) was a Sudanese flutist, whose music was used on a number of radio stations, both nationally and internationally. He was one of the first Sudanese artists to present musical breaks at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., and his music usually focuses on the simple men of Sudan, and their grievances.
