Gérard Loncke (15 January 1905 in Overpelt – 13 March 1979 in Neerpelt) was a Belgian professional road bicycle racer. In 1932 he finished 4th place in the Tour de France. Overpelt
Overpelt (, literally ''Upper Pelt'') is a town in the municipality of Pelt and a former municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. In 2018, the municipality of Overpelt had a total population of 15,478. The municipality consisted of the following population centres: centre, Holheide, Overpelt-Fabriek, and Lindelhoeven. Three hospitals are in Overpelt. In 2005, the St. Mary hospital opened as a merger of hospitals in Lommel and Neerpelt. In addition there is the MS-clinic and a center for disabled, Sainte-Ode. Effective 1 January 2019, Neerpelt and Overpelt were merged into the new municipality of Pelt. Neerpelt (, literally ''Lower Pelt'') is a town in Pelt and a former municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. In 2018, the municipality had a total population of 17,174. Road bicycle racing is the cycle sport discipline of road cycling, held primarily on paved roads. André Leducq, who also won six stages, won the race, thanks to the bonification system; had the bonification system not existed, the margin between Leducq and Kurt Stöpel would only have been three seconds. Innovations and changes In the 1931 Tour de France, there had been a time bonification system, which gave 3 minutes of bonification to the winner of the stage, if he finished more than three minutes ahead of the second cyclist in that stage. In 1932, this bonification system changed: now the winner of the stage received 4 minutes, the second-placed cyclist 2 minutes and the third-placed cyclist 1 minute, plus an extra three minutes if the margin was more than three minutes. The 1931 Tour de France was the 25th edition of the Tour de France, which took place from 30 June to 26 July. It consisted of 24 stages over . The race was won by French cyclist Antonin Magne. The sprinters Charles Pélissier and Rafaele di Paco both won five stages. The cyclists were separated into national teams and ''touriste-routiers'', who were grouped into regional teams. In some stages (2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 12), the national teams started 10 minutes before the touriste-routiers. One of these ''touriste-routiers'' was Max Bulla. The 1933 Giro d'Italia was the 21st edition of the Giro d'Italia, organized and sponsored by the newspaper '' La Gazzetta dello Sport''. The race began on 6 May in Milan with a stage that stretched to Turin, finishing back in Milan on 28 May after a stage and a total distance covered of .
