Gyumri Football Academy
The Gyumri Football Academy ( hy, Գյումրիի ֆուտբոլի ակադեմիա), is a modern football training school located in Armenia's 2nd-largest city of Gyumri, Shirak Province. Overview The construction of the academy was launched in late 2011 by the Football Federation of Armenia. On 13 September 2014, the complex was officially opened by the FFA president Ruben Hayrapetyan and the mayor of Gyumri Samvel Balasanian. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. Occupying an area of 80,000 m², the complex is home to: *5 natural-grass regular-sized football training pitches. *1 artificial turf regular-sized football training pitch. *1 artificial turf mini football training pitch. *Three-story service building with a total area of 1,200 m², including a fitness centre and spa, physiotherapy rooms, medical services, conference room, etc. The academy is able to serve up to 1,000 trainees. Gyumri
Gyumri ( hy, Գյումրի, ) is an urban municipal community and the second-largest city in Armenia, serving as the administrative center of Shirak Province in the northwestern part of the country. By the end of the 19th century, when the city was known as Alexandropol,; hy, Ալեքսանդրապոլ it became the largest city of Russian-ruled Eastern Armenia with a population above that of Yerevan. Football Club Shirak ( hy, Շիրակ Ֆուտբոլային Ակումբ), commonly known as Shirak, is an Armenian professional sports club based in Gyumri. Shirak is known for its professional football team which is one of the oldest football clubs in Armenia, having been created in 1958. The club is the only team that participated in all seasons of the Armenian Premier League since its creation in 1992 until 2021. Shirak is one of the more successful clubs in Armenia, having won a total of 11 domestic titles including four Armenian Premier League titles, two Armenian Cup, and five Armenian Super Cup. Shirak Province
Shirak ( hy, Շիրակ, ) is a province ('' marz'') of Armenia. It is located in the north-west of the country, bordering Turkey to the west and Georgia to the north. Its capital and largest city is Gyumri, which is the second largest city in Armenia. It is as much semi-desert as it is mountain meadow or high alpine. Ruben Rafiki Hayrapetyan ( hy, Ռուբեն Ռաֆիկի Հայրապետյան, born 9 March 1963 in Yerevan, Armenia), also known by his nickname Nemets Rubo (''Rubo The German''), is an Armenian football official, a former member of the Armenian Parliament and a businessman. Between 2002-2018, Hayrapetyan was the president of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA). He was elected to the Armenian Parliament twice, in 2003 and 2007.
