Gyeonggi Science High School
Gyeonggi Science High School (GSHS, ko, 경기과학고등학교), established in 1983 originally as a ''Science High school'', is currently a science High school for the gifted in Suwon, South Korea. It was the first science high school established in South Korea, and was transformed into a science high school for the gifted, being one of the four in South Korea. It is the third been transformed from science high school to science high school for the gifted according to Gifted Education Promotion Law ( ko, 영재교육진흥법). Suwon
Suwon (, ) is the capital and largest city of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea's most populous province which surrounds Seoul, the national capital. Suwon lies about south of Seoul. It is traditionally known as "The City of Filial Piety". With a population close to 1.3 million, it is larger than Ulsan, although it is not governed as a metropolitan city. Gifted education (also known as gifted and talented education (GATE), talented and gifted programs (TAG), or G/T education) is a broad group of special practices, procedures, and theories used in the education of children who have been identified as gifted or talented. The main approaches to gifted education are enrichment and acceleration. An enrichment program teaches additional, related material, but keeps the student progressing through the curriculum at the same rate as other students. Catherine Seulki Kang
Catherine Seulki Kang (born 25 September 1987) is a South Korean-born naturalized Central African taekwondo practitioner. She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's 49 kg event. On 8 August, she was defeated in the preliminary round against Lucija Zaninović of Croatia. Personal life Kang was born in Gunsan, Jeonbuk province and resides at Busan in South Korea. She graduated from Gyeonggi Science High School and Woosuk University. Career While working as Taekwondo instructor in Belgium, Kang decided to switch nationality in 2010 to Central African Republic to try to qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. TEPS
The Test of English Proficiency developed by Seoul National University or TEPS is an English proficiency test created by Seoul National University's Language Education Institute to evaluate South Korean test takers' English language skills. TEPS has been administered nationwide since January 1999. It consists of 200 questions which are divided into four sections: Listening (60 questions, 55 minutes), Grammar (50 questions, 25 minutes), Vocabulary (50 questions, 15 minutes), and Reading (40 questions, 45 minutes). TEPS scores are divided into the ten ratings ranging from 1 + to 5. It is designed to test applicants' communicative English skills and to minimize test-taker reliance on certain strategies such as rote memorization. A study of the test indicated that it is valid and fair. TEPS score is valid to be converted into TOEFL score and this conversion is used throughout many universities in the United States. Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States and Canada created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students.
