Guano Apes
Guano Apes are a German rock band formed in 1994 in Göttingen. The band consists of Sandra Nasić (vocals), Henning Rümenapp (guitars, backing vocals), Stefan Ude (bass, backing vocals), and Dennis Poschwatta (drums, backing vocals). AllMusic calls the quartet alt-rock and their sound a fusion of metal, pop, and rap. They have released five studio albums, one live album, two compilation albums, and five video albums. History Formation and ''Proud Like a God'' (1994–1999) Guano Apes were formed in 1994 in Göttingen, Germany, by guitarist Henning Rümenapp, bassist Stefan Ude, and drummer Dennis Poschwatta. ''Proud Like a God'' is the debut album by the German alternative rock band Guano Apes. The album was released in Germany on 6 October 1997 via GUN/Supersonic Records, internationally on 24 December 1997 via GUN/Supersonic and BMG International, and finally in the US on 28 September 1999 via RCA Records and BMG International. Two of Guano Apes' most popular and enduring songs are included on this album: " Open Your Eyes" and "Lords of the Boards", which peaked at #5 and #10 on the German charts, respectively. ''Walking on a Thin Line'' is the third studio album by Guano Apes. It was released on 3 February 2003 by BMG. Title of the album comes from a line in the song "Kiss the Dawn". The album reached #1 on the German album charts and was certified gold for shipping 100,000 copies. Lead single "You Can't Stop Me" peaked at #10 in Germany. Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1993. The band is composed of classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, and Perttu Kivilaakso, and jazz drummer Mikko Sirén. Originally a classical-style Metallica tribute band, the band eventually adopted a neoclassical metal style without the use of conventional guitars and bass. Michael Fritz Mittermeier (born 3 April 1966) is a German comedian. Early life Mittermeier was born in Dorfen, Upper Bavaria. During his childhood he lived in Bavaria. After school he studied theatre. Career In 1996, Mittermeier started the comedy program ''Zapped''. ''Zapped'' was shown on his tours in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He participated in comedy television shows as well as the German TV show '' Wetten, dass..?''. The most well-known parts of ''Zapped'' are parodies of German advertisements as well as the US television series ''MacGyver'', which later became a running gag. Mittermeier popularized the term "Arschgeweih" (" tramp stamp"; literally "ass antler"). His next comedy programs were ''Wahnsinnlich'' (1990), ''Zapped!'' Paradiso (Amsterdam)
Paradiso is a Dutch music venue and cultural centre located in Amsterdam. History It is housed in a converted former church building that dates from the nineteenth century and that was used until 1965 as the meeting hall for a liberal Dutch religious group known as the "Vrije Gemeente" (Free Congregation). It is located on ''de Weteringschans'', near the ''Leidseplein'', one of the nightlife and tourism centers of the city. The main concert hall in the former church interior has high ceilings and two balcony rings overlooking the stage area, with three large illuminated church windows above the stage. The acoustics are rather echoey, but improvements have been made over the years. In addition to the main concert hall, there are two smaller cafe stages, on an upper floor and in the basement. "Big in Japan" is the debut single of the German synth-pop band Alphaville. It was taken from their 1984 debut album '' Forever Young''. The single was a success in many countries, including Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. It was also the group's only UK Top 75 hit, reaching No. 8 on the UK Singles chart. The song also reached number one on the Hot Dance Club Play in December 1984. Lyrics, music and theme The group had a Roland System-100M which they first used to create the bassline.
