Guadalupe Radio Network is an American radio network based in Midland, Texas. It is owned by La Promesa Foundation, and is Doing Business As (D.B.A.) Guadalupe Radio Network. The Guadalupe Radio Network provides Catholic religious radio programming to its stations. As of 2021, it included 38 radio stations in the United States History The Guadalupe Radio Network began on July 19, 2000 with the station KJBC, in Midland, Texas. By 2021, it included 39 radio stations in the Houston, Kansas, North Texas, West Texas, South Texas, Central Texas, Alabama, Florida, Washington, DC, and New Mexico markets. Radio broadcasting in the United States has been used since the early 1920s to distribute news and entertainment to a national audience. In 1923, 1 percent of U.S. households owned at least one radio receiver, while a majority did by 1931 and 75 percent did by 1937. It was the first electronic "mass medium" technology, and its introduction, along with the subsequent development of sound films, ended the print monopoly of mass media. Blountstown is a city in Calhoun County, Florida, Calhoun County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,514 at the 2010 census, which represented an increase from 2,444 in 2000. It is the county seat of Calhoun County. Name Blountstown is named for John Blount, a Creek Indian chief who served as a guide for General Andrew Jackson during his invasion of Spanish Florida in 1818. This invasion was not directed at Spain, per se, but at Seminole Indians who would attack settlements north of Florida, then retreat to relative safety below the border of Spanish Florida. The station is currently owned by La Promesa Foundation. History WEAR The station currently operating as WDWR began broadcasting as WEAR at 1490 kilohertz on April 1, 1947. It was Pensacola's third radio station, carrying programs of the Mutual Broadcasting System and owned by Gulfport Broadcasting Company, consisting of investors from Pensacola and Texas. The 250-watt outlet moved to 1230 on February 1, 1950. Grove Hill is a town in Clarke County, Alabama, United States. At the 2020 census, the population was 1,818. It is the county seat of Clarke County and home of the Clarke County Museum. History The area that is now Grove Hill was originally inhabited by Creek and Choctaw Indians. The county seat of Clarke County was established at what later became Grove Hill in 1832 as the spot was most central to the rest of the county. Known variously as Smithville, then Macon, the name Grove Hill was selected around 1850 for the large grove of oak trees on the plateau. The town was officially incorporated and chartered in 1929.
