Greg Riddoch
Gregory Lee Riddoch (born July 17, 1945 in Greeley, Colorado) is a retired American professional baseball player, manager and coach who served as manager of the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball from July 12, 1990 through September 22, 1992, compiling a career win–loss record of 200–194 (.508). Riddoch threw and batted right-handed, stood tall and weighed . He attended Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado, and was an infielder for five seasons (1967–71) in the Cincinnati Reds' organization. He spent 13 seasons as a minor league manager in the short-season Northwest League and the Rookie-level Pioneer League, and was a coach for the Padres from until the 1990 All-Star break when he succeeded Jack McKeon as the San Diego manager. He led the Padres to winning seasons in both (84–78) and (78–72), but was fired in favor of Jim Riggleman by the Padres' general manager, Joe McIlvaine, with a dozen games left in the 1992 campaign. ... In baseball, the field manager (commonly referred to as the manager) is the equivalent of a head coach who is responsible for overseeing and making final decisions on all aspects of on-field team strategy, lineup selection, training and instruction. Joseph Peter McIlvaine (born 1949 in Narberth, Pennsylvania) is a baseball executive and former professional baseball player. McIlvaine played in the Detroit Tigers minor league system for 5 seasons. Jim Riggleman
James David Riggleman (born November 9, 1952) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) manager and bench coach who coached with several teams between 1989 and 2019. He is currently the manager for the Billings Mustangs of the independent Pioneer League. During his playing career, Riggleman was an infielder and outfielder in the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals minor league systems from 1974 to 1981. After his playing career ended, he managed in the Cardinals and San Diego Padres minor league systems until 1992, when he became the Padres' manager. Jack Aloysius McKeon (; born November 23, 1930), nicknamed "Trader Jack," is an American former Major League Baseball manager and front-office executive. In , at age 72, he won a World Series as manager of the Florida Marlins. Two full seasons removed from his previous managing job, McKeon had begun the season in retirement, but on May 11, he was induced to return to uniform to replace Jeff Torborg as the Marlins' skipper. The team was 16–22 and in next-to-last place in the National League East Division.
