Greg Malone (actor)
David Gregory Malone (born October 19, 1948 in St. John's, Newfoundland) is a Canadian impressionist and actor.Wyndham Wise"Greg Malone" ''The Canadian Encyclopedia'', November 21, 2012. He is well known for the ''CODCO'' television series and his impersonations of Barbara Frum, Jean Chrétien, and Queen Elizabeth II. Career Prior to CODCO, Malone wrote and performed in a number of shows for CBC Television, including ''The Wonderful Grand Band'', '' The Root Seller'' and '' The S and M Comic Book'', and appeared in the film ''The Adventure of Faustus Bidgood''. After the death of his ''CODCO'' co-star Tommy Sexton in 1993, he devoted some years of his life to raising awareness of HIV and AIDS, including writing, directing and appearing in a training film for health care professionals. Tommy Sexton
Thomas Sexton (July 3, 1957 – December 13, 1993) was a Canadian comedian. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, he was the youngest member of the ''CODCO'' comedy troupe. Educated in St. John's, he was an honours student before quitting after Grade 10 to pursue an acting career in Toronto. After briefly working on a children's touring theatre show, he landed his first television role in the drama series '' Police Surgeon''. Sexton and colleague Diane Olsen subsequently wrote ''Cod on a Stick'', a comedic play which launched CODCO. In 1975, Sexton took a brief sabbatical from CODCO to study at the Toronto Dance Theatre. He subsequently returned, working on other shows with CODCO and subsequently touring with colleague Greg Malone in two co-written works, ''The Wonderful Grand Band'' and '' Two Foolish to Talk About''. Gemini Awards
The Gemini Awards were awards given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television between 1986–2011 to recognize the achievements of Canada's television industry. The Gemini Awards are analogous to the Emmy Awards given in the United States and the BAFTA Television Awards in the United Kingdom. First held in 1986 to replace the ACTRA Award, the ceremony celebrated Canadian television productions with awards in 87 categories, along with other special awards such as lifetime achievement awards. The Academy had previously presented the one-off Bijou Awards in 1981, inclusive of some television productions. Earle Grey Award
The Earle Grey Award is the lifetime achievement award for television acting of the Canadian Screen Awards, and its predecessor the Gemini Awards. It can be presented to an individual or collaborative team (such as SCTV or Royal Canadian Air Farce). The award was named in honour of Earle Grey, an actor and theatre director who founded the Earle Grey Players theatre troupe and had served as the first president of ACTRA's local chapter in Toronto. The award was first presented by the ACTRA Awards in 1972, as the award for best performance in a television film within the annual eligibility period. In the earliest years it was the only acting award presented by the ACTRA Awards, although it was later supplemented with an award for best performance in a television series. Andy Jones (comedian)
Andrew Jordan Jones (born January 15, 1948) is a Canadian comedian, actor, writer, and a former member of CODCO. Early life Andy Jones was born in St. John's, Newfoundland. He is one of four children of Michael Jones and Agnes Dobbin. He is the brother of comedian Cathy Jones and filmmaker Michael Jones (1944-2018). Andy attended St. Bonaventure's College until grade eight and then attended Gonzaga High school for the next three years. He received a BA. in Theology and English from St. Mary's University and then studied drama at University of Alberta in Edmonton and at the University of Toronto, acting in campus productions.
