Andreas Apostolopoulos
Andreas Apostolopoulos (1952 – 15 February 2021) was a Greek-Canadian billionaire businessman, primarily concentrated on real estate investment and redevelopment. He is best known for his ownership of the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. The Apostolopoulos family is one of the richest Greek families in the United States and the richest Greek family in Canada. He died on 15 February 2021. Biography Born in the port city of Kalamata, Greece, Apostolopoulos emigrated to Canada in 1969. John Mylopoulos
John Mylopoulos (born 12 July 1943) is a Greek-Canadian computer scientist, Professor at the University of Toronto, Canada, and at the University of Trento, Italy. He is known for his work in the field of conceptual modeling, specifically the development an agent-oriented software development methodology. called TROPOS. Biography Born in Greece in 1943, Mylopoulos in 1966 received his Bachelor of Engineering from Brown University. In 1970 he received his PhD from Princeton University under supervision of Theodosios Pavlidis with the thesis, entitled "On the Definition and Recognition of Patterns in Discrete Spaces." In 1966, he started his academic career as Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, where he in 1971 he was appointed Professor in Computer Science. Tess Fragoulis is a Canadian writer and educator. Born in Heraklion, Crete, Greece, she was raised in Montreal, Quebec, where she attended Concordia University. Her first book, ''Stories to Hide from Your Mother'' (Arsenal Pulp Press, 1997), was nominated for the QSPELL First Book Award. One of the stories was adapted for the television series ''Bliss.'' Canadian English
Canadian English (CanE, CE, en-CA) encompasses the varieties of English native to Canada. According to the 2016 census, English was the first language of 19.4 million Canadians or 58.1% of the total population; the remainder spoke French (20.8%) or other languages (21.1%). In Quebec, 7.5% of the population are anglophone, as most of Quebec's residents are native speakers of Quebec French. Phonologically, Canadian and American English are classified together as North American English, emphasizing the fact that most cannot distinguish the typical accents of the two countries by sound alone. The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at the Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. The Elks were founded in 1949 as the Edmonton Eskimos and have won the Grey Cup championship fourteen times (including a three-peat between 1954 and 1956 and an unmatched five consecutive wins between 1978 and 1982), most recently in 2015. Anastasios (Tas) Venetsanopoulos (June 19, 1941 - November 17, 2014) was a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in Toronto, Ontario and a Professor Emeritus with the Edward S. Rogers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto.
