Vestland is a county in Norway established on 1 January 2020. The county is located in Western Norway and it is centred around the city of Bergen, Norway's second largest city. The administrative centre of the county is the city of Bergen, where the executive and political leadership is based, but the County Governor is based in Hermansverk. Laksevåg is a borough of the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. The borough is located in the western part of the municipality. Historically, the area was called ''Laxevaag'', and it was a separate municipality until 1972 when it was merged into Bergen. The borough of Laksevåg has residential areas on the hillside of the mountain Damsgårdsfjellet facing the Puddefjorden. Lyderhorn
Lyderhorn is a mountain in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It is one of "De syv fjell", the seven mountains surrounding the city centre, and the starting location of Bergen Turlag's annual trip of the mountains. It is located by Liavatnet approximately west of the city center. Due to its prominent visibility from the seas, it has historically been a navigational mark for sailors. The tall Ørnafjellet is an adjacent peak, and below Ørnafjellet are the two lakes Skåleviksvatnet and Søre Skåleviksvatnet. North of Ørnafjellet is Kvarven fort, a strategic point during World War II, still featuring several bunkers and cannon positions used in the defense of Bergen. Byfjorden (Hordaland)
Byfjorden (Norwegian Nynorsk and Bokmål: /byːfjɔrn/, /-ɔɾn/; Bokmål: also /-ɔɳ/; Bergensk: usually /-ɔʁn/) is a fjord in Vestland county, Norway. The long fjord separates the island of Askøy from the mainland Bergen Peninsula, passing right north of the city of Bergen on the mainland. The western entrance to Byfjorden is between the village of Drotningsvik in Laksevåg borough, Bergen, and the village of Marikoven on the island of Askøy in Askøy municipality. The northern entrance to the fjord is between the village of Ask on Askøy and Mjølkeråen in the borough of Åsane in Bergen. On the northern end, it connects with the Salhusfjorden and Herdlefjorden. Damsgård Tunnel
The Damsgård Tunnel ( no, Damsgårdstunnelen) is a road tunnel in the city of Bergen in Vestland county, Norway. It consists of two tubes, each of which carries two lanes of traffic through the Damsgårdsfjellet mountain between the neighborhoods of Lyngbø and Gyldenpris and the onwards towards the city centre. The northern end of the tunnel lies adjacent to the entrance to the Løvstakk Tunnel and the Puddefjord Bridge. The tunnel is one of the major arterial highways leading west from the city centre. Nygård Church
Nygård Church ( no, Nygård kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bergen Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the Gravdal neighborhood in the city of Bergen. It is the church for the Nygård parish which is part of the Bergen domprosti (arch- deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, brick church was built in a fan-shaped design in 1972 using plans drawn up by the architect Arvid Jacobson from the firm of Einar Vaardal-Lunde. The church seats about 520 people. History A new cemetery at Nygård in the Gravdal neighborhood in Bergen was inaugurated in December 1876. Immediately after World War II, planning for a church at the cemetery site began. The parish hired Einar Vaardal-Lunde in 1954 to design the new church. However, the economy put an end to these plans for some time.
