Grassy Lake, Alberta
Grassy Lake is a hamlet in Alberta, Canada within the Municipal District of Taber. It is located on the Crowsnest Highway ( Highway 3), midway between the cities of Lethbridge to the west and Medicine Hat to the east. It is approximately west of Burdett and east of Taber. It has an elevation of . It was formerly incorporated as a village, dissolving into the Municipal District of Taber on July 1, 1996. The hamlet is located in Census Division No. 2 and in the federal riding of Medicine Hat. Grassy Lake was named for a nearby lake of the same name, which has since been drained. Grassy Lake Dam
Grassy Lake Dam is a small dam operated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in Teton County, Wyoming, immediately to the south of Yellowstone National Park. The dam lies in a corridor of Bridger-Teton National Forest that runs between Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The dam structure and outlets are within a few hundred feet of the south boundary of Yellowstone. The zoned earthfill dam was built between 1937 and 1939 as part of the Minidoka Project, which provides water to irrigate farmland in Idaho's Snake River Plain. The dam provides only water storage, impounding . Given the small catchment area of Grassy Creek, inflow is augmented by a ditch that moves water from Cascade Creek into the reservoir. Grassy Lake is , a natural lake, and is located in St. Martin and Assumption, Parishes, Louisiana. The of watershed includes Lake Verret, Lake Palourde, all draining into the Atchafalaya River, and finally the Gulf of Mexico. Grassy Lake is almost entirely in St. Martin Parish but Assumption Parish runs along the east side, just west of the shoreline. Little Grassy Lake is a 1,200-acre (4.8 km²) reservoir in southern Illinois, created by the damming of ''Little Grassy Creek'', a tributary of Crab Orchard Lake and the Big Muddy River. Most of the lake is located in Williamson County, southeast of Carbondale, Illinois. The lake is accessible from Giant City Road out of Carbondale, Illinois. Two arms of the lake penetrate into adjacent Jackson County. The lake is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge. History Little Grassy Lake was built in 1940 as part of federal relief efforts surrounding recovery from the Great Depression.
