Goyer Island
L'Île Goyer is a river island of the Richelieu River. It belongs to the territory of the municipality of Carignan, in the La Vallée-du-Richelieu Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Montérégie, in the south of province of Quebec, in Canada. A municipal Bévédère stop, located on backfilled land, is located on the southeast side on the shore of the Bassin-de-Chambly, where civic parties are sometimes organized. Genest Park, located at the intersection of Deux-Rivières and Tulippes streets, and comprising an area of was redeveloped in 2019. This park includes a permanent dek hockey area as well as play areas for children and pre-teens. There is also the waterfront park of Île Goyer located in the northeast part on the northwest shore of the Chambly basin. Carignan, Quebec
Carignan is a suburban municipality in southwestern Quebec, Canada, on the Richelieu River in La Vallée-du-Richelieu Regional County Municipality, about from Montreal. The population as of the Canada 2021 Census was 11,740. Carignan was originally the Village Municipality of Chambly. The village of Chambly was established in 1855, less than 10 years after the municipality of Chambly. In 1965 it was renamed Carignan to honour the Carignan-Salières Regiment. Geography Carignan is made up of small urban blocks surrounded by agricultural land where the main crops grown are corn, wheat and soybeans. The municipality borders the Acadia and Richelieu rivers and these merge, creating a small delta. At their tip, one of the city's four islands: Île Goyer (formerly Grande Isle since it is the largest). Acadia River
The Acadia River flows Northerly over 82 km through seven municipalities in the MRC La Vallée-du-Richelieu, Les Jardins-de-Napierville and Le Haut-Richelieu, in Montérégie, on the South Shore of St. Lawrence river, the Quebec, Canada. The Demers Island is a river island of the Richelieu River. It is located in the territory of the municipality of Carignan, in the La Vallée-du-Richelieu Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Montérégie, in the south of province of Quebec, in Canada. La Vallée-du-Richelieu ''(The Valley of the Richelieu)'' is a regional county municipality in the Montérégie region in southwestern Quebec, Canada. Its seat is McMasterville. It surrounds the Richelieu River as the river flows north from Lake Champlain in the United States to the Saint Lawrence River northeast of Montreal at Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. Dramatically different from the mountainous terrain to the south, the river valley is a vast plain that has been developed with extensive farmlands. The Chambly Basin (french: link=no, bassin de Chambly) is a shallow, oblong body of water formed by an enlargement of the Richelieu River, extending out from the foot of the rapids on the river between Chambly and Richelieu, in the Quebec region of Montérégie. The towns of Chambly, Richelieu, Saint-Mathias-sur-Richelieu and Carignan surround the basin. The Chambly Basin is an important area for recreational tourism activities including boating in the summer, the connected Chambly Canal and nearby Fort Chambly National Historic Sites.
