Gottfried Huppertz
Gottfried Huppertz (11 March 1887 – 7 February 1937) was a German composer who is perhaps most known for his scores to German expressionist silent films such as the science fiction epic ''Metropolis'' (1927). He collaborated with director Fritz Lang on multiple occasions. Life Huppertz studied at the Conservatory of Music in Cologne and worked during World War I in Coburg, where he debuted in 1910 as a singer and actor. In 1920 he went to Berlin as an opera singer at the Nollendorfplatz theatre. His first composition, ''"Rankende Rosen"'', was dedicated to the actor Rudolf Klein-Rogge, who introduced him in the early 1920s to director Fritz Lang and to Thea von Harbou (who later married Lang, but was at the time still married to Klein-Rogge). Frank Strobel
Frank Strobel (born in 1966 in Munich) is a German conductor known for premieres and performances of works by composers Sergei Prokofiev, Franz Schreker and Siegfried Wagner. He is authorized arranger and editor of works by the composer Alfred Schnittke and since 2001 has helped this composer built a reputation as a film composer in the German-speaking world. In addition, Strobel has been a pioneer in the interdisciplinary field of film and music for many years and is one of the protagonists of the "Film in concert" movement. Life Having grown up in the environment of the cinema of his parents, Strobel came into contact with music at an early age. He learned to be a projectionist and developed a close relationship to the movies and thus also to film music. He finally became a musician and later became a conductor. ''The Ascension of Little Hannele'' (german: Hanneles Himmelfahrt), also known simply as ''Hannele'', is an 1893 play by the German playwright Gerhart Hauptmann.Hartnoll (1983, 377).
