Göteborgs Fotbollförbund ''(Gothenburg Football Association)'' is one of the 24 district organisations of the Swedish Football Association. It administers lower tier football in Gothenburg and surrounding municipalities. Background Göteborgs Fotbollförbund, commonly referred to as Göteborgs FF, is the governing body for football in the Gothenburg area. The Association currently has 235 member clubs. Based in Gothenburg, the Association's Chairman is Bert Andersson. Göteborg
Gothenburg (; abbreviated Gbg; sv, Göteborg ) is the second-largest city in Sweden, fifth-largest in the Nordic countries, and capital of the Västra Götaland County. It is situated by the Kattegat, on the west coast of Sweden, and has a population of approximately 590,000 in the city proper and about 1.1 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area. Gothenburg was founded as a heavily fortified, primarily Dutch, trading colony, by royal charter in 1621 by King Gustavus Adolphus. FC Gothia
FC Gothia was a planned new Swedish football club. It would have been created by merging three teams, Örgryte IS, GAIS and BK Häcken, all from Gothenburg. The clubs held a press conference on 14 September 2007, at which they presented their plans and announced that would start an inquiry. However, outside the press conference hundreds of angry supporters of the three teams had gathered showing their deep anger toward the plans. Later the same day the clubs decided not merge because of the strongly negative reactions of the fans. The club maintains in Brazzaville the youth football academy CF Gothia Brazzaville, which was founded 2003 by the Göteborgs Fotbollförbund. IFK Göteborg
Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna Göteborg (officially IFK Göteborg Fotboll), commonly known as IFK Göteborg, IFK (especially locally) or simply Göteborg, is a Swedish professional football club based in Gothenburg. Founded in 1904, it is the only club in the Nordic countries that has won one of the main UEFA competitions, having won the UEFA Cup in both 1982 and 1987. IF Warta is a Swedish football club located in Hisingen, Göteborg. Background Idrottsföreningen Warta, a football club from Hisingen in Gothenburg, was founded in 1929. The name Warta is said to be named after a rusty old boat that was moored at Sannegårdshamnen, Lindholmen (in Gothenburg), at the time when the club was founded. The club's most famous player is Glenn Hysén who began his career with IF Warta as a youngster. IF Väster
IF Väster is a Swedish football club located in Västra Frölunda. Background Idrottsföreningen Väster is a football club from western Göteborg, with Önnered being the main catchment area. The club was formed in 1973 and has over 1000 active members. In addition to the men's and ladies teams the club runs an extensive youth section for boys and girls. In May 2010 IF Väster opened two new artificial turf pitches, one full size and the other 7-a-side. Göteborgs FF is a Swedish football club located in Gothenburg. Background Göteborgs Fotbollförening was founded on 20 August 1897 and is located in Gothenburg. The club is two times runners-up in Svenska Mästerskapet (first in 1899 and then in 1903) which decided the Swedish Champions in early Swedish football. The club was considered a feeder club of Örgryte IS, and played their home matches at Walhalla IP which was owned by Örgryte. The club participated in the two first seasons of Svenska Serien, finishing fifth in 1910, and being excluded after the season, but then being readmitted the next season since two clubs withdrew after only one game.
