Gordon Connell (actor)
Gordon Connell (March 19, 1923 – June 12, 2016) was an American actor, singer, and dancer. Personal life Born William Gordon Connell in Berkeley, California, Connell married Jane Sperry Bennett (aka Jane Connell), a fellow actress and singer, also a native of Berkeley in 1948. They had two daughters. Jane and Gordon began their careers performing at such San Francisco night clubs as The Purple Onion and The Hungry I. Career They gravitated to New York City. In the late 1950s and early 1960s, he performed in revues at the Tamiment Playhouse in the Poconos and in several of the Julius Monk nightclub revues at Upstairs at the Downstairs, including Monk's "Pieces of Eight" and "Dressed to the Nines". He made his Broadway debut in ''Subways Are For Sleeping'' in 1961. Additional stage credits include '' Hello, Dolly!'', '' Big River'' and '' The Human Comedy''. Berkeley ( ) is a city on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay in northern Alameda County, California, United States. It is named after the 18th-century Irish bishop and philosopher George Berkeley. It borders the cities of Oakland and Emeryville to the south and the city of Albany and the unincorporated community of Kensington to the north. The Love Boat
''The Love Boat'' is an American romantic comedy/drama television series that aired on ABC from 1977 to 1986; in addition, four three-hour specials aired in 1986, 1987, and 1990. The series was set on the luxury passenger cruise ship MS ''Pacific Princess'', and revolved around the ship's captain Merrill Stubing (played by Gavin MacLeod) and a handful of his crew, with passengers played by guest actors for each episode, having romantic and humorous adventures. The ship's regular ports of call were Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Mazatlán. The series was part of ABC's popular Saturday-night lineup of the time, which also included ''Fantasy Island'' until 1984. The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. The Lillian Booth Actors Home of The Actors Fund is an American assisted-living facility, in Englewood, New Jersey. It is operated by the Actors Fund, a nonprofit umbrella charitable organization that assists American entertainment and performing arts professionals. History On May 8, 1902, the Actors Fund opened a home for retired entertainers on Staten Island, a borough of New York City, New York. In 1928, the New York City government took the property using eminent domain to enlarge an adjacent city park.
