Gmina Olkusz
__NOTOC__ Gmina Olkusz is an urban-rural gmina (administrative district) in Olkusz County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the town of Olkusz, which lies approximately north-west of the regional capital Kraków. The gmina covers an area of , and as of 2006 its total population is 50,289 (out of which the population of Olkusz amounts to 37,552, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 12,737). The gmina contains part of the protected area called Kraków Valleys Landscape Park. Gmina
The gmina (Polish: , plural ''gminy'' , from German ''Gemeinde'' meaning ''commune'') is the principal unit of the administrative division of Poland, similar to a municipality. , there were 2,477 gminas throughout the country, encompassing over 43,000 villages. 940 gminas include cities and towns, with 302 among them constituting an independent urban gmina ( pl, gmina miejska) consisting solely of a standalone town or one of the 107 cities, the latter governed by a city mayor (''prezydent miasta''). The gmina has been the basic unit of territorial division in Poland since 1974, when it replaced the smaller gromada (cluster). Three or more gminas make up a higher level unit called powiat, except for those holding the status of a city with powiat rights. Bukowno
Bukowno is a town in Olkusz County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland. Before 1975 it belonged to the Kraków Voivodeship and in 1975-1998 to the Katowice Voivodeship. Bukowno is located in western part of Lesser Poland Voivodeship, between Katowice and Kraków about away from both towns. As of December 2021, the town has a population of 9,876.
