Têtes Raides is a French folk rock group. Group history The group was founded in Paris during the 1980s. Originally, they played music heavily influenced by the punk movement and depended on electric instruments. Their third album featured Anne-Gaëlle, a classically trained cellist, and marked a turning point in the group's music toward a more acoustic sound. The group's later efforts misleadingly take on the air of quotidian folk songs while actually using stunning musical arrangements, experimental soundscapes and poetic lyrics rife with very dark humor. Listeners find the influence of classic French musicians like Jacques Brel, Georges Brassens and the Négresses Vertes in the later work. Beau Dommage was a rock band from Montreal, Quebec, who achieved success in Quebec and France in the 1970s. The group's style included rich vocal harmonies and elements borrowed from folk and country music. History Beau Dommage started in 1972 as an offshoot of the theatrical group "La Quenouille Bleue". Founders Pierre Huet, Robert Léger and Michel Rivard were joined by Pierre Bertrand, Réal Desrosiers and Marie Michèle Desrosiers (no relation). The group's first album, ''Beau Dommage'', was released in 1974 and broke sales records at the time. The next year, '' Où est passée la noce?'' reached Platinum (as awarded by the CRIA before May 1, 2008, 100,000 units) on its first day of sales. The group met with considerable success on its yearly tours of Europe between 1975 and 1978, and also performed on numerous occasions in Quebec and the rest of Canada. Ginette Mathiot, Officier de la Légion d'Honneur, (23 May 1907 – 14 June 1998) was a French food writer and home economist. Mathiot wrote over 30 books including the famous ''Je sais cuisiner'' which sold over 6 million copies; she also wrote the famous *''Je sais faire la pâtisserie'' (''The Art of French Baking''), which has been updated and published by Phaidon in 2011. She never married and used traditional cooking methods to design cookbooks which the young wife caring for a young family could read and understand with ease. She is well known in France and her recipes are still used today by some of the most celebrated chefs, and millions of copies of her recipe books have been sold. She has received nominations for the Genie and Gemini Awards and is a multi-recipient of the Juno Award. She is a gold and platinum selling Canadian musician.
